The Dell Dimension XPS T500 is a must buy for any computer enthusiast. The system components are similar to those offered in competing models, however it is Dell's customer service that gives this system the edge.

Pros: first of all its a DELL and second of all its a DELL Cons: cons my a**
I bought my precious about a year ago at a thrift store and a never stopped loving it of course it came with 128mb of ram and a 12gb hard drive also it came with a 8mb ATI video card but of course i had to upgrade to a 80gb hd 512mb of ram and the video card to a nvidia o yes and the processor is OK at 500mhz but that will Chang to a 1000mhz soon enough. This DELL is fast sturdy and upgradable its the perfect computer. Did i mention that I'm using windows XP professional on it.
I got this machine second hand a couple of years back, and it has proved very reliable. I've since bought a new Dimension 5000 and WANed the two together.
What I'd like to do with the XPS T500 is upgrade the CPU and make it a little quieter.
Can anyone give advice as to what the maximum speed CPU I can use is. I understand I am limited by External speed of 100MHz, but Dell seems to say I can use up to 800MHz internal. The question is, is that Slot 1, Socket 370, socket 478, socket 8 or what?
Also, any recommendations for a quieter fan/cooling system would be greatly appreciated
