Why you should buy this card..and not the others!

by bradmyers , Dec 09 '99
Pros: Fast! Great 2d performance and high color depth at large resolutions
Cons: 16 bpp (bits per pixel) color depth on games.
Back in the early days of 3D graphics on the home PC, the original 3Dfx Voodoo 1 was King. That was 2 generations ago for graphics card manufacturers. At that time, 3Dfx blew away the competition, and while the competition is now very fierce, 3Dfx...

Voodoo3, not a step forward in tech, yet...

by kotetu , Mar 27 '00
Pros: Fast gameplay, excellent 3d 2d and DVD picture quality.
Cons: limited to 16 bit color depth in 3d apps.
First off, let me say that I have owned this card for several months. I bought it in November of '99 I believe. It has several immediate advantages over its predecessors, the predecessors being the Voodoo Banshee and the Voodoo2.

Voodoo1 was...

Where's the BEEF?- Voodoo3

by badhmash , Aug 29 '00
Pros: Price, previous Glide support. D3D support.
Cons: Everything else. The card is slow, outdated, just a souped up version of the Voodoo2 and definitly not worth it.
I have owned many types of computers with many types of graphic cards. I actually bought the original Voodoo 1 card from Orchid and I loved it at the time. Then the voodoo 2 came out and I bought one from Wicked 3D. Now the Voodoo 3 ate up my money...

Voodoo 3 2000: Good Value

by estoke61 , Aug 06 '00
Pros: Good performance and an excellent value
Cons: Not cutting edge, no additional ports

3DFX has established itself in the past as a high end graphics company with the introduction of its Voodoo (later Voodoo 1) based graphics accelerator pass-through cards several years ago....

Top of the line.

by jplas , Feb 02 '00
Pros: Fast, smooth, relatively cheap.
Cons: None
I built my own computer recently, and after talking to basically every computer guy I could find, I decided the Voodoo3 3000 was the card for me. Believe me, I wasn't disappointed.

16 megs of video RAM make for smooth, extremely fast graphic...

Good Performance & Compatibility

by andyhsu , Dec 20 '99
Pros: Low Cost, Glide Support
Cons: 16-bit Color Depth
Let me start by saying that the Voodoo 3 was not my first choice when it came time to buy a video card. I had originally planned on getting a TNT 2 Ultra back in February when I was in the process of finishing the computer I was building. The TNT 2's...

Rockin card, all the way.

by Shadowman , Jun 26 '00
Pros: High Speed/Great compatibility
Cons: Horrendous documentation/card runs a bit hot
Well, lets first start off saying this. I first bought the V5 5500 AGP. Come to find out, my model of motherboard (Gigabyte GA-7IXE) has a AGP voltage problem. Always has. ARRRRRGH. Thus screwing me out of any GOOD AGP card until I replace the board. So...

An Opinion for the Casual Gamer

by blueRazor , May 13 '00
Pros: fast, gorgeous visuals; cheap and reliable
Cons: not the cutting edge
It seems that the Voodoo3 3000 has taken a lot of heat about a lot of things--image quality, missing 32bit color, etc. And now with the GeForce cards being touted around as the fastest, prettiest framerate pumps today, I guess most people have pretty...

If you don't have AGP, this card is for ye!

by krisguy , Apr 09 '00
Pros: quick install, great 3D rendering
Cons: not much to tweak out of the box, documentation in box scarse
I spent three weeks researching video cards and finally came to a decision on the Voodoo3 3000 for two reasons. First, it is probably the best gaming card made for PCI right now, and second, I got it on sale!

I think I made the right choice....

Fast, Fast, Fast

by DavidGriffiths , Oct 05 '99
Pros: Fast, supports Glide as well as OpenGL and DirectX
Cons: Only 16 bpp color, poor DirectX drivers for NT
Note - I've added an update at the bottom (Feb 9th, 2000).

Let me say that I haven't always been a 3dfx supporter. They've done some bad things (like try to make Glide, their proprietary programming interface, the industry standard). Their...

Smooth Pixelater!

by vandalz Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, May 29 '00
Pros: Performs to the top of the line
Cons: None thus far
ou start up your computer, and decide to play that new game you just bought, only to see a small screen pop up, saying, you do not have a 3d Graphics card. Well that is what happened to me. Then I bought the 3Dfx Voodoo3 3000 card.

Throw It In The Trash

by SmakNuts , Jun 19 '00
Pros: Was at one time on the top
Cons: Very Slow, Runs Hot and does not support AGP Texturing, only 16 MB Ram 16 Bit color depth...too many to describe
TIME FOR THE TRASH - I SECOND IT

This is definitely one of those video cards that I would not even allow my enemies to buy. I really do not know what 3Dfx was thinking when they made this card. I mean, come on 16 bit color depth in a 32 bit...

V3

by YB-Sober , Jun 02 '00
Pros: Easy setup, good support.
Cons: Performance, no heat sink fan.
Okay, I have to confess that I originally purchased this card mainly because I needed the boost and I had a limited budget. I would recommend that anyone in the same position do the same, or perhaps get some of the now cheaper TNT2s'.

I didn't...

Vroom, Vroom Video

by augiemarch , Jan 24 '00
Pros: Great Price, Good Performance
Cons: Only 16 MB RAM
When I built myself a new system a couple of months ago, I labored to search out the best components and the best value for my dollar. I regularly play games, surf the web, access e-mail, ICQ and AOL IM concurrently, and wanted a stable system that was a...

Voodoo 3 3000 agp

by dentinater , Apr 22 '01
Pros: Excellent card for it's price. Fast gaming. T.V. Out!!
Cons: Only 16 bit support for 3d instead of 32
The Voodoo 3 3000 agp is a great video card. They are a very good price and they are well worth it. If you don't have enough money to buy one of those really expensive video card's this one is for you.

Voodoo 3's are great for gaming. You can...
