Pros: A great way to control multimedia applications from anywhere in the room.
Cons: It let's me be far more lazy than I should be.

Summary: This review is part of Opalman's I've Got the Music in my Computer write-off, co-hosted by Lambchops and Opinionated3. All of us taking part are to write about some computer product that we use in conjunction with music. A list of all ... read more

  • Great product

    Nov 17 '01
Pros: Good range, compact, easy to use
Cons: software could be better, pricey, short cable

Summary: After buying a new computer, a dvd-rom, a tv card and decent speakers, the only thing that my computer/entertainment system lacked was a remote. It was bugging the hell out of me that I had to get up from my bed and use the mouse or keyboard to pause a ... read more

  • Sit back, relax, and enjoy the PC

    Oct 15 '01
Pros: Compact, easy to use, fully customizable.
Cons: Was pricey, but it has been reduced. Watch batteries instead of AAA.

Summary: The Keyspan Digital Media Remote is almost a necessity for me. I love to listen to mp3's when I am away from my desk, I have a tv-tuner on my PC, and I like being able to control DVD's from the comfort of my couch. There are not many IR remotes out ... read more

  • Great remote for presenters!

    Sep 20 '01
Pros: Small, comfortable in the hand. USB interface is a big plus.
Cons: Wish it had a laser pointer built in.

Summary: As an author and a professional speaker, I often find myself speaking at large conferences several times a year. This is a situation where there's a few hundred people in a large room, with a very large projection screen set up. A year ago or ... read more

Cons: Pricey, wish I could use it with my iPod

Summary: I picked up the Keyspan DMR at the Apple Store in Tyson's Corner, VA. I was passing through on a road trip, and had to stop at the place -- and having stopped there, felt compelled to buy something. I chose the DMR because of it's cool-factor, ... read more

Pros: construction quality, nice buttons on remote, Amazing range/distance, can use different universal remote
Cons: Flat calculator style batteries.. should have used "AAA" or "AA"

Summary: The media remote is one of those products that catches your interest at the store, you pick it up to learn what it can do, and put it back down realizing that you can't justify spending $79 on a maybe "unnecessary" luxury item... I went ... read more

Pros: A great tool for the road warrior giving presentations from a laptop.
    Cons: Somewhat expensive.

Summary: I have always felt somewhat constrained when giving a presentation using my laptop. Being tied to the keyboard just did not feel right. I much prefer to move around and be more animated. My sitting in front of the keyboard also limited the number of ... read more

Pros: Works as expected, multi-purpose applications
    Cons: Bug with iTunes

Summary: Not worth the $79 when if first came out, I jumped at the opportunity to buy it for $49 at the Apple Store. The remote works like a charm, and I am able to do my powerpoint presentations remotely and use my computer like a jukebox, playing MP3s. My ... read more
