Could this be the Easiest Motherboard to Overclock Ever?

by grimjack2 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jan 23 '02
Pros: Many options and features.
Cons: Haven’t found one yet.
I haven’t had to buy a new motherboard separate from a new system for about two years before I bought this one last September. I thought there would have been huge advancements, but not really for the power and price range I was looking for. I needed a...

Asus has done it again

by quigley13 , Oct 18 '00
Pros: Fast and Stable, can increase front side bus speed in 1 MHz increments
Cons: Poor integrated video, pricey motherboard
Asus has become well known for their stable and fast motherboards. They produce motherboards that are both user friendly and feature rich. Asus boards tend to overclock well and often come with more “extras” than other brands.

The 815e...

The fastest motherboard I have tested to date

by matwood , Nov 04 '00
Pros: Fastest motherboard, latest technology, support everything, no ISA slots, rock solid performance
Cons: Still pricey, runs sluggish on 98 (although kicks butt on Windows ME and Windows 2000)
I have owned/sold almost every brand of motherboard since the early 80's and have never come across such a sweet motherboard in my life. The features I was looking for in a motherboard was the support of ATA-100, AGP 4x, PC-133 RAM, and supported...

Love My CUSL2

by buddy12660 , Aug 20 '01
Pros: Overall Performance and the ability to Overclock.
Cons: Doesn't seem to like Windows 98. Some boards have USB Port problems.
Until our unfortunate house fire where we lost the 3 computers I had built with Soyo Motherboards, which I liked a lot, I had never tried an Asus Motherboard. My wife and I at that time had Slot 1 CPU's. We decided to upgrade Socket 370 PIII Chips....

*Update*One helluva mobo that's now cheep!

by psykosis_fc , Sep 29 '00
Pros: Feature rich, outstanding software support, very stable
Cons: used to cost more than other i815e motherboards!
**Update**
This motherboard is now alot more available than it was when I was shopping for it about 4months ago--It's now only about $100 or so. Since the price has come down by about $50 and there's been a new BIOS rev that gives a little better...

Best S370 board but it will cost you

by CyrixDes , Dec 31 '00
Pros: good specs, good cpu speeds, plenty of upgrade options
Cons: price, onboard graphics
I have just reviewed what in my opinion is the best available Socket A Duron/Athlon board in the ABIT KT7, so I thought it was only right for me to look at what in my opinion is one of the best S370 boards, for those wanting to go through the Intel...

It's got everything, but you pay for it

by markjmiller , Sep 30 '00
Pros: features, overall quality
Cons: cost
I purchased this motherboard for about $160 after tax and shipping and everything, and thus far things seem to be working decently. I was actually building two systems for my sister and I, and I wanted to overclock both-- and this model seems by far to...

Very Decent Motherboard

by kuocdn , Jul 01 '01
Pros: A Very Stable Motherboard. Lots of Value & Good Performance.
Cons: Limitations on RAM.
This ATX motherboard is based upon Intel's 815E chipset. It has very high ratings & has received excellent reviews in several magazines & websites. It even won several awards for the most stable motherboard in 815E class all over the world. With a less...

ASUS CUSL2-C, best value for money motherboard!!!

by darkucio , Feb 23 '01
Pros: Stability, overclocking (both RAM and processor), AGP 4X, ATA 100, PC 133RAM, 2 USB ports...
Cons: Maximum 512MB RAM memory, lack of COM2 port
This is one of the first motherboards with an Intel 815EP chipset. It is basically almost the same as the ASUS CUSL2 Intel 815E chipset, except the ASUS CUSL2-C doesn't have integrated graphics or sound card, which is in my opinion much better, as you...

Another winner from ASUS

by rustyvic , Jan 19 '01
Pros: Good accessibility of main components Additional USB Root hubs on the board
Cons: On board graphics
Having reached the stage with my old board where many of the internal peripherals were capable of operating at higher bus speeds than the the board I embarked on the search for a suitable replacement. Amongst my main criteria were support for 4x AGP, a...

The drop in performance just isn't worth it

by firegate , Jul 06 '01
Pros: The CUSL2 can easily be configured and has many new features.
Cons: The i815e chipset sacrifices performance when compared to the older BX chipset
Lately, most people have turned to the Intel i815 chipset, which is used in this motherboard, when building their Pentium III-based systems because of how easily it can be set up and because of how it offers a lot of newer features like AGP4x. This, in...

A Prima Donna

by oscen , Nov 10 '00
Pros: Fast, great I/O features.
Cons: Expensive, has some quirks.
Edited 12-11-2000. With the rather disappointing debut of the Pentium 4, I have removed my caution about waiting for the next generation of technology and upped the rating to five stars. The price is still high, the technology is now outdated and this...

Solidly good Mobo

by gregbaker , Nov 25 '00
Pros: solid and fast; decent built-in video; good expansion
Cons: pricey
I wanted a solid, fast system. Having been happy with other ASUS boards I've owned, the obvious choice seemed to be ASUS's new i815E based motherboard, the CUSL2. I have not been disappointed. With a PIII-800 and plenty of RAM, the system is...

Stable

by bawb3t3a , Dec 21 '00
Pros: stable, 133FSB, USB
Cons: onboard stuff
When I picked this board up, I was wondering why asus would stoop to the level of onboard sound/video. The onboard stuff sucks but there was no conflicts when installing 3rd party sound/video and it has saved me when I burned out my GeForce.

Pros: Very Tweakable, Versatile, Asus Quality/Warranty
Cons: Limited to 512MB of RAM
For all you overclockers out there, this is the best board for Intel chips out. Basically, a tweakers dream.

I am right now running a Celeron 667 at 880Mhz rock hard stable. I have the highest scores for my system that I have ever seen, and...
