fast & light weight for students

by k99jd01 , Jan 16 '00
Pros: fast, lightweight, low cost, great resolution
Cons: small keyboard
I have had experience with a few different models of laptops, and after mine became outdated, i had to find a new one. I chose the Dell Inspiron 3700 r450gt because it was the fastest and most versatile computer i could find with a price tag fit for the...

Dell Inspiron 3700

by redwine0 , Mar 21 '00
Pros: Excellent Keyboard
Cons: small LEDs, Winmodem
I used this notebook configured with 18gig HD, 128mg RAM, DVD, 14.1" display since Jan '00.

Everything works very well except when it goes into suspend mode. Many times, it won't wake-up. Hard reboot takes care of the problem, but...

Don't deal with dell

by Tigerf16 , Jan 03 '00
Pros: none
Cons: everything
Dell's service is the worst. First, my Inspiron's mouse buttons break after only 2 months of routine use. Then Dell on-line support tells me I have on site repair. When I call to set up an appointment, they send the wrong part to the service tech. Twice....

Light, Fast, Cheap

by DanskisNY , Dec 15 '99
Pros: Light Weight, Light Price
Cons: Poor Service
I bought my Inspiron 3700 with a P3 450, 128 MB Ram, an 18 GB hard drive, a DVD-Rom, a second battery, MS Office 2000 Professional w/ Bookshelf, and another bundle of programs, and it cost less than $3800. It weighs under six pounds. Because of this, I...

Dell Hits the Spot for Busy Executives

by dick112112 , Jan 24 '00
Pros: Necesities for business laptop at a decent price
Cons: Could use some extra add-ons for power users
OVERALL: This is a good laptop for the business laptop, and has all the absolute necesities that one could ask for, for a very reasonable price.

This Laptop is one of the better ones out there for decent prices, but it does have some basic...

Life with Dell

by audreyh , Jan 26 '00
Pros: screen size, modem speed, hard drive space
Cons: only one disk drive at a time
I received my Dell 3700 for Christmas, and my life hasn't been the same since then. I had an old AST computer that was purchased in '94, I believe, with only one upgrade since then. It was slow and tempermental, and I was thrilled to see the Dell when...

Losing faith

by barry_kaplan , Jan 23 '00
Pros: Big screen, fast CPU, dual mouse controls
Cons: Poor build quality, Win NT incompatibilities
I have been a loyal Dell supporter since I first used their Pentium line of Latitude Notebooks. Their Latitude machines may still be a great buy, but the Inspirons are another story altogether. I had a 3500 for two months. It crashed on me 3 or 4 times a...

All around really good and nice and pretty good.

by schroeder360 , Jan 19 '00
Pros: Cool design, good hardware, reasonable price
Cons: Just all the regular cons associated with notebook comps.
My Inspiron is the PIII 450 mHz and has a 56k modem, modular floppy and dvdrom drives, and 32mb of ram.

I have had it now for about a month and have had absolutely no problems with it at all.

The screen is not too small, has good...

Buy something else

by nilayp , Jun 25 '01
Pros: Cheap & long three year warranty because it needs it!
Cons: Heavy, noisy, unreliable, poor support, low quality
I was never a big fan of Dell, but after the Inspiron, I will never go back. I would have given them no stars if I could. Here are all the problems I have had in the last 1 1/2 years...

1) Heat. The fan is not sufficient to keep the machine...

THE GREATEST

by lukecal , Jan 26 '00
Pros: WONDERFUL ALL ROUND
Cons: NOTHING
This was my favorite ever laptop. I definitely recommend it for its usefulness for just about anything. You can easily get the internet on it and its CD-ROM drive will play movies and very clear images. Its memory can record several gigabytes of RAM and...
