Pros: Reasonably priced.
Fast delivery. Cons: Somewhat heavy.
Does not look great.
My fiance and I are graduate students. As we lived apart and traveled often to meet each other, we decided to buy a laptop for him. This laptop also had to be almost as good as a desktop as this was planned to be his only computer.
We wanted a...

Pros: reasonable price, good performance, relative compact, good features (14.1", 600MHz, 128MByte etc.) Cons: you get what you pay for (and a little more)
Laptops are usually not considered cheap and at the same time defy any relationship to high performance to the extreme. The Inspiron is no exception in this regard.
However, I was looking for a home computer I can pay for and one that still...

Pros: Great picture quality, good sound, lightweight. Cons: Tech support, Windows ME, miscellaneous glitches.
I recieved my Inspiron 4000 as a gift. It is the 700 Mhz Pentium III, with the large capacity 8 cell battery, internal CD rom (interchangeable with a disk drive that also came with it), 10 GB hard drive, came with Windows ME loaded as well as lots of...

Pros: Decent performance , Lightweight , Stable, Great Tech Support Cons: Poor build quality , Placement of some ports , Lousy keyboard.
Purchased Oct 2000.
Having owned my Inspiron 4000 for about a year and a half I feel qualified to give an informative review.
At the time I paid $1500 for my laptop and it was easily the best deal out there at that time. As soon as I...

Pros: perfect size, durable, reliable, light weight, great screen, ... Cons: only 1 media bay
This was the first Dell that I've ever owned. I used to buy IBM ThinkPads only because of the "special deals" that my school had with them. But I've been very, very happy with the Inspiron 4000.
First of all, I bought it from Dell's...

Pros: not heavy and affordable portable Cons: I haven't found one... I'll tell you
I don't like portables, they are the worst thing. That tiny mouse is a hell and don't make me start with that small keyboard or the screen...
I had to purchase the portable because I really need it and I selected one for someone my age (with...

Pros: Good graphics, pretty light Cons: Noisy CD drive, average battery life
I'll start off by saying I'm not too computer literate and looked at computers basically for price. I purchased this Dell as my first "owned" computer. I'd always been provided a laptop from work. I'd previously used a Compaq and an IBM Thinkpad -...

Pros: Sturdy machine; manageable weight Cons: Drive bay never catches; parts tend to fail; never shuts down properly
I've now owned a Dell Inspiron 4000 for nearly a year. In that time, I have come to suspect that Dell has slipped in it's attention to reliability and dependability. This is likely the last Dell machine I'll by.
For starters, the hard drive...

Pros: Light, sharp display, very handy, versatile Cons: Sound not quite loud enough at maximum volume, occasional pause/skip with DVD
First, I think Dell really hits the mark with their website. They make it so easy to get exactly what you want, how you want it. All you have to do is go to www.dell.com and choose the model and options that you want. It will give you the price in...

Pros: Small, light, powerful, versatile, upgradeable. Cons: Only one quicklaunch button
I recently bought myself a Dell 4000 computer, with the intent of using it throughout my college career as computer, and also as a portable DVD player for long flights and other travel. What I got was a package so far and beyond my expectations that it...

Pros: Fast, customizable, good web support Cons: Terrible phone support, not enough ports, ships with Windows ME
Customizing my Inspiron 4000 was really exciting. The great thing about it is how customizable it is. 128MB or 256MB of RAM? 10GB or 20GB hard Drive? Dell really gives you the choice. Not only does this customizability save you money by eliminating...

Pros: Fast, light, beautiful screen, nice keyboard Cons: so-so speakers
This is the first laptop I have purchased, I own a Gateway desktop which I have been happy with, but I did alot of research online about different brands and I decided Dell would be the best deal!
The computer I purchased has a
700 mhz pentium...

Pros: Attractive, light weight Cons: Poor design, tech support not knowledgeable
My Inspiron 4000 is a 800 MHz Pentium III, I've had it for 1 year. Some of the benefits are that it is light-weight, yet the screen is large enough that I use it as my primary computer.
Often, the system sticks and the only way to reset it is...

Pros: light weight, large screen, durable, easy use, DVD Cons: Short battery life, speaker quality
I recently purchased a Dell Insprion 4000. I had researched the market for about 4 weeks prior to making my purchase. I was looking for a computer that was rather light in weight, with a minimum 14' screen with a trusted brand name that I could rely on...
