The best digital book reader that money can buy!

by infoscott , Feb 23 '05
Pros: Very sturdy, long battery life, thin and light weight
Cons: Green back light, no longer supported
Why would a four year old palmtop still sell for more than $50 on Ebay? Because it still does what it was designed to do, and it does it very, very well! When the Handspring Visor Edge debuted, it was one of the thinnest, lightest, and best looking ...

Old today, but still excellent. One of the nicest looking PDA's too.

by groxx , Jul 09 '04
Pros: Sleek, killer battery life, metal body, a solid PDA.
Cons: Old now, only upgrades to 4.1, strange IR placement, e-x-p-e-n-s-i-v-e.
First off, this is a fairly old PDA. It's 16-grey B&W, 8 megs (you don't need much more for a B&W, but still...), and only upgrades to PalmOS 4.1 at max (I still use 3.5.2, which it came with. More programs :D ). On the flipside, it's a handspring, so ...

Drove me to the edge !(the Handspring visor edge)

by didcrywolf , Jul 31 '03
Pros: I wish I knew
Cons: TERRIBLE tech support
Hard work usually pays later!
Procrastination does pay now.

In my case the visor edge was like a no edge sword. This was my third visor but my first edge (other two were stolen). Maybe the edge was victim of a couple of static discharges...

If it worked, it would be perfect for me.

by k9leader , Jul 10 '03
Pros: Thin and lightweight, includes all functions for a good basic PDA.
Cons: Quality control problems -- two have died on me.
For the first ten months I owned my Visor Edge, I loved it. I want a PDA that is thin and light, wi ...

Poor Overall Value

by dcbf , Jun 24 '03
Pros: The visor edge is very user friendly, and syncs easily.
Cons: The small screws that hold the unit together fall out often. Seems cheaply made.
I purchased the visor edge a year ago, had to receive two replacements within the first two months d ...

Pray you never need Handspring Tech Support

by yankee_doodle , May 08 '03
Pros: Cheap way to organize your life
Cons: Support is the WORST I've seen
The Visor Edge is a respectable piece of hardware at a bargain price. It holds up alright to normal use with the exception of the badly designed stylus. It had the potential to be a good piece of equipment but missed the boat.

The Visor Edge...

good money to power value

by daisuke69 , Feb 05 '03
Pros: slim, good looking, powerful and rugged, filp cover
Cons: no springboard, discontinued, stylus can rattle a bit in it´s holster.
I´ve only owned this palm unit, but comparing it to other ones I´ve used I´d say the edge is really nice.

it´s fast at 33 MHz, never had any problems with mine except for one hang while playing tetris that required me to do a hard reboot. the...

the minimalist's PDA, the college student's Clie

by rocketo , Dec 02 '02
Pros: clean design, durable, cool stylus, IR interface.
Cons: screws fall out, cover gets loose, not built to last.
My history of PDAs starts with the Palm m100. After breaking the covers on half a dozen of them, I moved to the Visor Deluxe. When the Edge came out, I was in love.

The body is sleek, and the aluminum shell makes for excellent armor. I...

Price drop/modem

by Pailaka , Nov 29 '02
Pros: Price drop . Modems are easier to carry on the road than your laptop.
Cons: Springboard modules make it too think to easily carry.
The Visor Edge gets better all the time. The recent price drop makes it a must for Christmas buying. Modems are easier and easier to use. Time to get out there, Americans. Rechargeable batteries make it easy to keep going. Infrared hotsync with...

Poor Customer Service

by tysonhenry , Nov 06 '02
Pros: Thin
Cons: Customer service
After a few months my visor failed. I spent nearly 2 hours on the phone. They finally agreed that it was broken. I sent it in, they sent it back. Still didn't work. I spent nearly 3 hours on the phone. They finally agreed that it was broken and...

The coolest PDA, but...

by Clive_Conway , Oct 28 '02
Pros: Just so cool, compact and gorgeous. Decent processor and screen
Cons: Poor value these days, poor stylus, Sony
I won't bore you by going through all the technical specs for this PDA--others have done that already. I'll just tell you why you may or may not want one.

Fact is, it is really cool. Mine is metallic silver and makes everyone stare when I pull...

Far from perfect

by bfsdfl , Sep 28 '02
Pros: Thin enough to fit in a pocket.
Cons: Had to exchange once already for bad battery. Constant memory errors and resets.
Having purchased an original Visor Deluxe, I thought the Edge would be a good (and lighter) replacement. Six months in, the battery went out. Handspring graciously replaced it, and upgraded my OS in the process. Ever since then, I get frequent fatal...

I got burned

by jskieft , Aug 15 '02
Pros: Lightweight, built in cover, does not need batteries
Cons: Unreliable, crashes all the time, mediocre customer support, not durable
I chose the Visor edge for its memory, size, built-in cover, and rechargeable battery. At the time (Sept 2001), it was one of the new models and after I bought it, I loved it...for a little while it was the perfect tool.

Then, screws started...

A Good Buy

by GRPaul349 , Jun 16 '02
Pros: Small, sturdy, inexpensive
Cons: Palm OS 3.5, bulky expansion, not color
The Visor Edge, a good buy? Not many people would have said that a year ago when the price was $399.00! A lot has changed since then, and at $169 (with a free case from Handspring) it's now a good buy.

I started out with a Palm III, upgraded...
