Pros: Practical, Fun, Inexpensive, Unlimited potential for storage and archiving. Cons: Ties up the computer, Wasted CDR media, Takes some getting used to.
A short while after I purchased my first advanced PC, I knew I was going to need something more to store all of my large graphics files, and classic photographic archives.
My first adventure into the realm of removable storage was the Iomega...

Pros: none Cons: many
Originally purchased 2 months ago (model CRW2642), this drive has not made one usable CD yet. Have tried 3 brands of software, all the recommendations on Memorex's website, different hardware configurations, etc. Memorex has not answered an e-mail to...

Pros: Data records well Cons: Audio recording is unreliable
I have owned this drive for two months and as of yet have been fully successful in recording data. However when attempting to record audio I get tons of Buffer Overrun errors and memorex customer service leaves something to be desired. I bought this...

Pros: Box looks nice Cons: Ruins CDs, not worth amount paid.
I got the Memorex 4224 CD-RW for my birthday last September from my Parents. I had only had the product for one week when it would leave "chunks" out of the cds that I was recording to. Now all the CDs are good for are drink coasters. So I...

Pros: Dependable...if you let it be Cons: Slow as an old lady crossing the street
I obtained a Memorex CDRW 1622 drive a while back in an effort to cheaply backup the huge catalog of pornography I had amassed on my hard drive. It worked, and I haven't had any problems, but the thing is very, very slow.
I have burned several...

Pros: Good Quality for the Price Cons: Re-write speed not quite up to today's standards
The Memorex CD-RW drive (4 x 2 x 24) works well all around. It creates quality CDs without much hassle and seldomly makes a mistake. The Memorex comes with software that is easy to use and very hassle-free. For a reasonable price, the Memorex CD-RW...

Pros: Very easy to use Cons: Not a cheap investment
I recently purchased a memorex cd-r cd-rw drive for my computer. I shopped around and for the price this is the best product out there. Memorex has developed the best cd writer available. It burns CD's up to 4 times faster than any other burner. It...

Pros: Low cost, decent bundled software from adaptec. Cons: Relatively slow writes.
Because the crw-1622 is a bit long in the tooth (6x2x2), you can get great deals on them. I got mine off a yahoo commerce site for $99 + shipping (about $120 total) and had it two days later.
Although I am a hardware moron the unit slipped...

Pros: very dependable Cons: slow speeds
I agree with just about everyone's thought on this writer. Although it isn't incredibly fast, it has served me well. I have burned numerous CDs and CD-RWs with this drive with little or no defects. I also love the fact that this drive pretty much...

Pros: fast, cheap and reliable Cons: the instruction manual was not very clear
I bought this thing and it blew me out of the water. It has never miss burned or even skipped a beat. After almost 25 burns with this cd-wr it has been awsome. For the cheap price you can't beat it. It is almost better to buy this than a removable...

Pros: cost-effective for data storage Cons: doesn't always work
All things considered, this product was a good investment. At 2x2x6, it's not the best on the market, but my brother was looking to store information and make compilation CDs and it served him well. I have done the same, since a permanent CD can...

Pros: Pretty reliable Cons: Can't copy directly from cd drive
I haven't had too many problems with this model. The software is Ok and it's a slow 2X compared to what's on the market now. I couldn't get it to copy directly from another cd drive, i had to copy it to the hard drive (15 minutes) first. Once i did that...

Pros: software, speed, size, reliability Cons: costs
I have tried almost all of the cd writters on the market and from my experience I must declare that Memorex makes the best product available. If you don't know much about computer cd writters then let me tell you that pretty much all of the different...

Pros: Reliable, dependable, recognized brand name, inexpensive Cons: slow, media fussy, and average software performance
I purchased the memorex 1622-CRW about ten months ago.
I chose the memorex writer primarily due to brand name recognition and price. I was both familiar with the brand name and satisfied with the price (given alternative brands and prices at...
