Pros: Price. Picture quality. Speed. Ease of use. Cons: Hmmm... it's not a Nikon coolscan 4000.
I couldn't be happier with my Acer ScanWit 2720S film scanner. Wanting to get deeper into digital photography, I was about to buy a high resolution digital camera when my brother stopped me. He works at a digital photo lab. Too often he sees the bad...
Pros: Price, Adobe software, easy install (W98se), sharp color\B-W film scans Cons: plastic film holders flimsy, no lessons on enlarging (learn here)
I'm color blind...ok; really just red-green deficient like many guys...which always kept me out of the color darkroom. I had no clue on inverting negs to postives. On the pc that's done for you...somewhat. I have to do the tweaking, but it is infinitely...
Pros: price Cons: quality, dust sensitivity, color management
I bought the Acer Scanwit 2720S a couple of months ago because I wanted to put my photo archive on cd-rom. Scanning the film seemed to be the quickest solution (which it is :-)
Almost having bought the Minolta D’Image Dual Scan II, I...
Pros: Great value, impressive results. Cons: Bigger than most competitors

Pros: Fast, inexpensive, good quality scans. Great warranty support. Cons: Pricey film holders, 35mm only, possible reliability issue.

This scanner has the potential to be a fantastic bargain. I got mine new from ubid.com for about $275 delivered and fired it up right away. Although it comes with a SCSI card, my...
I've earned a large part of my living from my photography since 1987 and I bought the Acer Scanwit 2720S so I could put my negs and slides onto CD. I use Vuescan software rather than the supplied Miraphoto.
This unit has given faithful service for about three years now and was an absolute bargain. It is fast and the quality is excellent (especially from negative film). Almost all my images go out to publishers as scans now -- either on CD or by e-mail -- and all generated by the 2720S.
The only criticism I can make is of the flimsy carriers for mounted slides. However, in practice, the lugs breaking off doesn't make any difference to operation of the scanner.
