Pros: lots of features for free service, helps you keep in touch Cons: paid membership is high and not worth the price
I joined Classmates.com shortly after I graduated from high school 5 years ago. You can join the site for free or you can opt for a paid membership, which I will explain later. I am a free member, so some of the features are not available to me,...

Pros: Pros: Nice to see old friends are still around
Cons: Cons: But how can you contact them?
No longer 33 hours, but 48 hours have passed since the last email from Classmates.com, copied below, that my status as a "Gold member" has been "reinstated." It hasn't.
The Classmates.com swindle-sentimental-former-students saga continues. I...

Pros: None Cons: Misleading business practices and unsatisfactory customer service.
I received two solicitation emails from Classmates.com within one week of signing up with them, even though I had opted out of any email subscriptions. When I signed up, I understood from their web site disclaimers that I might receive a "service" ...

Pros: Great for Reunions Cons: Renewal without Warning or Authorization
I was really surprised to find out I had signed up for the Automatic Renewal of my Gold Membership with Classmates.com as I NEVER do automatic renewals. I did not intend to continue my Gold Membership as it is not particularly useful. As I did not ...

Pros: Great concept. Cons: Poorly executed.
Classmates is a great concept, but there are many problems with their system as well as a general client understanding of how the system works. Classmates rolls out fixes that only cause new problems. They are continuously playing a game of catchup ...

Pros: Maybe get laid by some former classmate from high school. Cons: If you're young, just use Facebook.
By know, everyone knows that Classmates missed out on the Web 2.0 revolution, and no one is to blame but the management of the organization. King-of-the-Hill in the late 1990s, Classmates is now struggling to find enough premium members to support their ...

Pros: none Cons: company is unethical and service provided is useless
I have been caught with the same ethically bad business practice of not allowing the user to opt out of auto renewal in the initial sign up of classmates.com, but that is not my only complaint. I signed up for a three-month membership (the shortest ...

Pros: none Cons: Over Priced, and you have a hard time getting out of their trap.
On September 29,2009 I noticed a charge to my debit card from classmates.com. It was for the yearly gold membership. Problem was that I didn't authorize such a purchase. I had purchased a membership in 2008,and because of the economy decided to ...

Scam: Unauthorized Auto Renewal of Premium Memberships!!!
by mistyb ,May 31 '05
Pros: Nice way to find people Cons: Scam!! They set membership to autorenewal; then won't refund!!
BEWARE!! Classmates will rip you off by "auto renewing" your premium membership WITHOUT your consent. You have to go into the user control panel to set your account to MANUAL renewal to override this!!! They actually get you to "legally consent" to auto renewal by placing a clause buried within the user agreement. After a year, they AUTO renew your membership without informing you that they are going to do so. If you inquire about not authorizing the charge, they tell you the user agreement you checked when paying permits auto renewal and a refund is NOT allowed. HOW SHADY!! I will never renew my membership again and will post this at every consumer site I can find. Thanks Classmates!

Not worth the small cost
by donbrinser ,May 22 '06
Pros: Some of my old friends were there. Cons: Very cluttered and messy, unpleasant to navigate. Not worth the small fee.
I signed on to classmates.com, after putting it off for a very long time. The price is fine, and yes, there were the names of old friends I hadn't seen in years. However, the site is extremely cluttered and difficult to navigate. I build and manage web sites, so I'm not just complaining as a low skill user. With the vast resources available through the web, you can find people in other, easier ways.

CLASSMATES HAS NO INTEGRITY WHATSOEVER
by rare_one ,Oct 14 '05
Pros: Slight potential, that's all it has. For anything else, you must pay a fee. Cons: Cons? Just about everything because you can't DO anything unless you pay and pay.
Classmates erroneously charged my credit card TWICE, 6 months apart from each other and I had to battle with them to get a refund. They denied the charges. I had to get my bank after them before they refunded my money. This, months AFTER I unsubscribed from their Gold membership. I ended up having to completely unregister from their website. They have yet to acknowledge their mistakes in wrongly charging my card twice or apologize.
Classmates also allows people who are NOT alumni to specific schools to say they ARE alumni. When broached about this fraud, they claimed to be a VOLUNTARY website (whatever that means) so they allow people who are not alumni to specific schools to say they are so they can find friends (only if they PAY a fee) easier. But what about those people who are not alumni to a specific school who sign up repetitiously where you see their names 3 and 4 or 5 times in a row in the same class? That's so wrong and makes Classmates seem extremely superficial and unauthentic.
