Pros: Free and Easy Cons: Should offer Jet-Streamed Video
AIM is my main source of discussion with friends and family. I use this service to the extreme. My lifestyle is that of which uses the internet on a daily basis, for information, research, weather, plans, horoscopes, and the like. I find AIM one of the...

Pros: Ability to chat while surfing, send files and pics, even voice chat! Cons: cannot see AOL profiles
I remember the day as if it was yesterday. I received a "free" disk to try this program called AOL. Interesting, curious, but nothing to make me jump and down. Little did I know the door it was about to open. That was 1994, when I first...

Pros: Always there Cons: never got it working
I feel that instant chat needs more documentation.
I have been on AOL instant chat for approximately two years and still don't know how to get started. It is just a bothersome window floating on the right of my screen.
Every...

Pros: Cool new options Cons: None
I have been a huge fan of the AOL Instant Messenger Service. I used to subscribe to AOL, but I hated it. AOL is one of the worst internet services out there. The only reason I ever used it was for the instant messaging feature. Then I discover the...

Pros: many more features than aol buddy list Cons: voice chat not so clear
So, in the beginning of this year I got rid of my previous ISP, America Online, and got a free ISP, Bluelight. (If you are interested in a free ISP, check out my reviews on Bluelight.) When I did this I decided I needed to find some sort of buddy list,...

Pros: Easy to use and Unlimited Possibilities Cons: Boxes can pile up!!
Aol Instant Messenger is a very popular and easy program. Anyone with an internet connection can use it and allows you to chat with AOL members or non-AOL members anytime. This program is very useful and keeps getting better.
Instant...

Pros: Saves on long distance Cons: If you have AOL you have to remember to turn on Instant Messenger to group chat with those who don't have AOL
I know since having AOL Instant Messenger my long distance charges have dropped. This is a great way to chat with friends and family that are long distance to call.
I also like being able to chat with people you wouldn't ordinarily chat...

Pros: it's free, easy to use, many options, evolving Cons: configuring it so it doesn't annoy the h*ll out of you
OK, kinda a dopey headline, but you get the point.
I have never paid for AOL, but my aunt in North Carolina told me the America Online's Instant Messenger program was free and that I could use it to communicate with her from NJ. She said...

Pros: ease of use, quick starting Cons: no e-mail, no profile view of AOL members
Well, it's not the only chat tool I use, but I have to admit that it's probably the easiest to figure out.
I also have ICQ, but if you don't know much about computers, I'm not sure if ICQ is for you. AIM, though, is much easier to figure out if...

Pros: Very easy to use, rarely glitches, connects most of the time Cons: it's from AOL, Not remembering your buddy list if you reinstall/use it on another computer, somewhat lacking in the firewall department
I have always hated America Online for reasons I don't think need to be put here. Yet, AIM was my first Instant Messenger program to use. Ironic, I should say.
Now, I don't use AOL as my Service Provider (read above), so I will be covering AIM...

Pros: Quick and easy Cons: No three way chat
While I am not a big fan of AOL in general, one of their products really sticks out in my mind: AOL Instant Messenger.
It allows quick, easy, two-way chat between you and someone else, and it is completely free (you can download the program...

Pros: Always being updated, lots of features Cons: Not the greatest through proxies
My first online experiences were with Prodigy. Who remembers Prodigy and the bulletin boards? I do. I thought they were the coolest thing. I mean, you have the ability to communicate with others from long distances.
Well, online...

Pros: Voice Chat, Chat Rooms, FREE, etc Cons: Nothing
As most of you already know this is a product of aol. It allows you to chat by typing or you can chat by your microphone. If you have this your all set, why would you need aol and pay an extra $21 a month?
If you have this all you need is an...

Pros: User Friendly Cons: None I can think of
AOL Instant Messanger. The name says it all. The messages are instant no matter who you are talking to. It's weird though, AOL gives this multifunction Instant Messenger to the none AOL users, the features include, file transfer, stock quotes,...
