It's a great concept, but they need to get their act together. I downloaded and subscribed to a year of PalTalk plus primarily because their website claimed they worked with AIM, Yahoo, etc., and provided screenshots showing this ability. When I couldn't figure out how to use this feature, I was told that it was not yet available. Also, every time I want to create a new chat room, I have to change my default web browser to Internet Explorer, then change it back after the room is created, which becomes tiresome after a short while. My advice: Download the free version, and try ALL of its features for atleast a month before subscribing.

You want my opinion! I think it is to costly for to few! That is why I did not subscribe! I did once, when it was possible to have three nicknames for the same subscription price but when they highered their price and reduced the subscription to one nickname only, I saw that (like many successfull ventures) they started to abuse people who loved the program for $$$$$ only. So, now, I remain a free member with limited access but then I don't feel that I'm being robbed.

I have been using Paltalk for just about a year now, have learned a lot from all the different cultures on Paltalk. It has made me open my eyes to the differences and similarities of different races, religions, etc. In the beginning I really looked forward to coming on and chatting in Social Issues. But, over the past year, it has become very jaded, nasty and people are at each others' throats. Now, I don't trust easily, and feel like I'm fighting that clique in high school thing again. It's a real shame. I am thinking of uninstalling Paltalk now. I hope something happens to change my mind.

I am saddened to see that such a company as pal-talk would constantly drop almost everyday which I am sure it has to be a personnel problem. To many people sticking their fingers in where they do not belong can make for an everyday pal-talk problem. I also have viewed many pal help rooms and to think that the personnel *red-hats* gives what you would so call help, doesn't give help at all but more or less renders the problem that the pal members are having instead of trying to find a correct solution to the members problem at hand. I have observed many members trying to help other members as well in those rooms that have the correct answer to the problem but yet the *red-hats* refuses to let them help even tho the *red-hats* do not even know a solution to the problem either. I hate to think how many peoples computer systems that pal-talk had a hand in messing up. Especially with their banners that I am very sure has to lag many peoples systems.

I have used varrious chat programms since 1992 .. Started with ICQ.. Have a 6 digit number...so old ! ... Then MSN , Yahoo, Firetalk...and a few others. I was introduced to Paltalk in Februrary 2001.... It , I found was fantastic. Had all the features that one would need . The video, though was not good , until I purchased a subscription to the service .... Then video was great .

The audio quality is excellent...and the rooms are well run. The moderators are really good ,and do not put up with any BS ....

It is a great meeting place for all walks of life.

My personal experience with PalTalk has been exceptional. I was particularly intrigued with the "press-to-talk" feature within groups.This definitely complements the Webcam as well as Instant Messaging features... all on the same page!

I really enjoy using the paltalk messanger, although when I started on paltalk it was much cheaper and I personally don't think that the upgrades are worth the large raise in the price. I am currently using just the free version. I used to have the pay version but with the new upgrades, which I don't use much, it got too expensive. As a loyal paltalk user who was there at the beginning, I feel a little jiped that they got so expensive just because they got popular. I don't feel that they took care of their loyal customers. I would probably pay for 3 vid windows, but I don't need 6. If there were a plan for that I might resubscribe.

Be careful if you decide to pay for PalTalk with your credit card. I had a brand new card that had never been used for any purchases yet, and I paid $50 dollars for the PalTalk Plus 6, for 1 year subscription, and a month later I get my credit card statement and it has $50 for PalTalk on it and $476.63 for some Norris Systems company that I had never even heard of before, and certainly did not order anything from. I contacted this company and they said they have been getting a lot of fraudulent purchases lately. They said they would remove it from my bill, though I haven't seen it refunded as of yet. They also warned me about using my credit card online, and the only place I ever used it was the "Secure Paltalk Website".
So I have written this review to give everyone else a fair warning about paltalk and their lack of security when handling your credit card numbers. I hope this helps someone so they won't have to go through all the stress this has put me through!

This is a brief review of the Paltalk chat program. I have been using the Paltalk program for some months now and have discovered a LOT of faults with it. www.download.com has only given Paltalk a review of less than 50% on their site. Paltalk is considered about the web to be the easiest program to hack and to obtain other users identities. The human factor regarding the help rooms and admind's is extremely poor. It's commonly know that if you know the right person on Paltalk then you can simply be banned for no reason at all. It's also commonly know that Paltalk has no interest in their customers and that Paltalk does spy on their clients via spy ware. Spysweeper from Webroot.com detects the WHOLE Paltalk program as spyware.

My experience using PalTalk has been an experience that I will never be able to forget. When I downloaded Paltalk, I thought that it would be just like all of the other messenger programs and chatrooms. Boy, was I wrong. There is no other messenger or chatroom that can even come close to being all that PalTalk is. The music and the encouraging words which I had the opportunity to be blessed with while on Paltalk, was more than enough for me to give it a thumbs up. With the downfall of the Yahoo Messenger user rooms, this is a life saver for our online Support Group. The support facilities of PalTalk are exceptional, best I have ever seen ANYWHERE! The PalTalk client itself is very stable, unlike the problems experienced on Yahoo Messenger. The basic 'free' membership is great for most users. The only downfall I see is the cost for the upgrade in order to make the room 'private', it is a bit high, especially for a small non-profit support group such as ours, other than that it's a great program.

I have been using Paltalk for a long time. There software needs a lot of help but the idea and concept are OK. They encourage world wide chat but if you're outside the US your in bad luck. There is a low price for the US with a free magazine subscription but double that and only payable by check if you're outside the US you have to pay almost double and you can only pay by check?!? Who still uses checks? I'm a US citizen paying with US funds but get penalized for my location.

In my line of work, PalTalk is one of the most valuable communication tools available. The ability to not just text chat, but to speak in realtime, is something that PalTalk appears to have spent a lot of time perfecting.

Pros: Voice chat enables you to have real time conversations with your friends.
Cons: Lots of arbitrary rules, loads of sex chats, and very unfit for minors.

Coming to PalTalk was a real wake-up call for me. Being a US citizen, I was used to fairly free speech and the right to voice my opinions. Not so on this service! If you make a room name that a PalTalk admin personally dislikes, they close it down. They even can ban you from using the service, not for personal offenses or slander or vulgarity, but for offending some arbitrary administrator. Even if you are not breaking any PalTalk rules, you can lose your account if someone decides they dislike you.

Besides that, most of the rooms on PalTalk are sexually explicit and adult in nature. If you like huge rooms full of people talking about sex, and sending naked images of themselves to you, then this is the program for you. But be warned: don't let your kids on here!!!!

It's nice to be able to go in a private room and actually have a voice chat with a friend or two. It can save you on long distance calls. After all, it's free. But besides that, I think PalTalk is a wash.

I have been on many Instant messenger programs and I think Paltalk is one of the 2 best I have seen. Paltalk has its problems don't get me wrong but compared to other Instant messenger clients it is a much safer platform for adults and teens. Well anyone can create a room but in that room you the person that created it has some form of control. abusers can be removed or privileges can be revoked said abuser. The only thing I see is that Paltalk may get into the hype of other Instant messenger on the Internet. A good GUI is nice but stability is the key to any program. If all features do not work who cares if it looks good. On another note Paltalk does care about its users. Security controls are set in so anyone abusing the Paltalk network can be removed from the forum or from Paltalk. Caring about the end users is a key to making Paltalk a user friendly Instant messenger client. I would like to see Paltalk get back to basics tho and spend more time working on what made Paltalk great.

Paltalk started out as a nice and simple program that delivered, but due to owners greed in chasing the dollar, has now overstretched its abilities and reduced stability of the program and has reduced subscription options for people. Bannerless and ad free now costs a minimum of approx $50US per annum, however, even paying does not stop all ads etc. Six video screens?? Why 6? We only have 2 eyes after all.

Constant "shutting down for maintenance upgrades" are obnoxious, constant problems using various parts of program due to Paltalk Server faults, lack of assistance, total lack of response to support requests via email, all lead to a failure on Paltalk's side. It clearly seems that Paltalk gets your money, then you can sit back and be forgotten.

After paltalk decided they were going to change the log on for accounts,then made the progam cost 10bux more a year, who in the hell would want to stay and pay to play? I see they have lost a lot of blue names all for the same reasons. I cannot get in to change my old email address so I could pay for my account again. They run a very poor standard chat room program, and their excuse is it is run by the owners of the room and to try another room, Paltalk owns these rooms regardless what they say, they are run by people who have no professional training. More attention paid to breaking a G rating, than to a serious threat on someone's life. You're told they can't do anything, they have to see it. With something like a death threat, the people should be logged. A NJ Egyptian christian family was recently slaughtered that was threatened on Paltalk.

The software is OK, the GUI is good, the security is better now than it was before. (other than the forementioned).

1)The main list is not easy for the eye to see the rooms as the old one and also too wide . 2) The away mode previously was good in allowing one not to receive invitations to other rooms but now it doesn't make any difference and one could find him self in another room against his wish while writing in the room's text or a pm. 3)the microphone function was better and easy compared the old version. 4) the main layout of the rooms was slimmer and better than the new one . 5) The icons of emotions in the room or pm was much better drawings than the new one , for example the kiss in the new icon is like a kiss from an ugly woman while before it was a lovely lips.

The innovative idea of Paltalk was left just at that......an innovative idea. It's a real shame that the owners don't have the intellect to continue to improve it to it's potential.

First of all, they do their upgrades during prime time..and everyone of the upgrades they do diminishes the utility and usefulness of their service.

I feel the co-admins take their job way to seriously. All they do is ban people, especially teens in the teen area. But when a teen need's help, do the co-admins help you? No they do not. Especially medianoche. What is his response to someone on Paltalk sending another teen's life info and phone number around? "Grow up and learn to use the program correctly, and if you can't do that then don't use it at all." I don't find those very appropriate things to say to teens. Anyway's, i'm sure plenty of others feel the same way but don't want to tell. I've even reported medianoche more then one. All in all, i feel Paltalk is a good chat program.

I find paltalk to be the best chat program on the net and reccommend it to everyone. The quality of service is excellent and the online help rooms are wonderful. Having people take you through each step of configuring your computer to get the best service from the program was a stroke of genius. All in all it makes chatting very easy. Being able to see info on the people you are talking to in a room makes for easier getting-to-know potential friends. The number of topics and interests is astounding and no matter what you are interested in you will find something to your taste when looking for people to talk to with similar interests. The online businesses and conference rooms are an excellent idea because you can get everyone in the same place listening and seeing what is going on very easily.

Pros: Variety of rooms to choose from including lots of G rated ones which is great.
Cons: Lack of administrative follow up for users or satisfactory customer support.

Paltalk I found to be one of the most stablest of multi platform chat programmed on the internet.
For something that can run video,voice and text it rarely experiences technical difficulty.
The biggest problem Ive had is administrative communication.
Ive been referred to certain people by their helpdesk when I approached paltalk about doing a radio programme and despite them reading my communication they didnt reply to my enquiries or allow me the courtesy of a reply.
This aside which needs to be improved upon ,Paltalk is one of the true family chats that I would feel comfortable sitting with my child as the warnings of a rooms content and rulings in a G rated room are strictly adhered to.This is definite peace of mind.

Pros: Easy to use and set up. Works quite well even on dial-up.
Cons: Sometimes the audio stutters and has digital hiccups and drops out .

PalTalk has opened up a way to communicate with people of like mind in my faith.
I am able to study and chat with folks from all across the country and form new friendships with them.
This has opened new doors and avenues for me as I live in a very small community and don't always feel like I belong. PalTalk allows people to congregate and fellowship ,pray for one another and share joys and needs with one another.
I never thought when I purchased my computer that I'd use the ' chat ' feature on the 'net, but, this has become an indispensable way for me to receive teaching and establish new friendships with people of faith.
I highly recommend PalTalk and give it a 5 star rating !

The main problem is the sound...volume is mostly very low and it is difficult to have a relaxed conversation then you have to strain to hear what is said

The experience of switching from Yahoo Messenger to Paltalk Messenger has been interesting, and I just downloaded it this morning.

Pal talk is a mess. The equipment is so difficult to get working properly. If you don't have the latest download they shut you down, so I go download it...then it messes up the whole computer. I download another one. Go to the nice helps groups to get answers, the people in one room contradict the people in another room. I try to get it working but no matter what, I cannot get my microphone working because it is too unstable and will not stay on. Nothing I can do about it. I open my room and play a song, about 5 seconds later I get a pop-up and bang I cannot play my song anymore and be heard. I reboot. Same thing. I reboot again. Same thing. I even bought a new microphone system twice. Nothing helps the microphone stick on and stay playing more than 2 minutes at a time.

It is very good to use PalTalk as it itself is messenger and has built in AOL & yahoo too.It has good inter face for video & voice chat in it. I have been using Paltalk since 1999. Since this time I have been Banned numerous times without reason , Many of the times was for having an opinion. My nightmare started years back on firetalk voice chat when I spoke to a person twice. This person got my name off an e mail from bellsouth. Which I had no clue my name was on, and when I found out had to call bellsouth to manually remove it. The person took my name ran it on anywho and posted my info all over the chat rooms of firetalk and paltalk .

Room Admins run rooms in paltalk,only misconduct is handled by red admins. this mean that u have the freedom of doing what u want when u want in ur room without being stooped, just make sure the rating is correct, also when being bounced or dotted in a room for no reason, make sure u read the rules as u enetered, every room have rules, just check the red text, the banner on top an what the admins are posting, sometimes muting by accident can cause them to bounce u, please make sure u read term an conditions, also learn how to use the programme by going to www.paltalk.com and u wont feel depressed or dispondent for not knowing why something hapened or how to do something on paltalk. u can always go to the new user lobby gr8 place to learn an help rooms for setting up mic, cam etc.

I've used Paltalk since it's inception and while the Paltalk software itself has improved drastically, the administration and users in general have degraded significantly. My advice is to save your $$$ and use a comparable network (such as Yahoo or MSN) that offer the same services for free.
