Pros: Fast page rendering, easy on resources, innovative built-in features,auto-refresh to maintain connection, stable Cons: Terrible cookie management, not so great cache management, zero plug-in support, ad banner for free version
To most Internet users, there are only two web browsers that are in the mainstream - Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator/Communicator. But for a while now there has been a third browser that has broken past the "Alternative"...
Pros: fast. customize. not IE. Cons: Quirky email. Not compliant with some sites.
The Internet has truly become a large part of everyones life the last few years. I remember way back in the early 90s that surfing the world wide web was actually limited to under 100 web pages. And browsing was limited to...
Pros: Extremely well designed, minimum resource use. FAST! Cons: Not compatible with some web pages, MS Java Scripts, and custom toolbars
I've Been Singing For Years I used to be a Netscape user. Netscape peaked, in my mind, at version 4.7. The newer versions were more advertiser friendly than good to users. This forced a switch back to my dreaded nemesis, Internet Explorer. That ...
Pros: Quick, Free, and Small. Cons: Cookie handling sometimes erratic along with page reloads
Although I don’t feel that Opera will ever replace Internet Explorer or Netscape (maybe), it does have some features not available (yet) in other browsers.
Pros: Small, fast, lots of options, FREE! Cons: minor bugs, ad banner in free version
I used to be a rabid proponent of Netscape. It used to be the best thing since sliced bread, as far as I was concerned. Lately, however, there have been security holes, it's really, really slow and bloated, and it crashes more often than Wile E. Coyote...
Pros: Smaller download and install than other browsers; fast web browsing; easy to use Cons: Must pay to register ad-free version
Your internet connection depends on many factors but I've never really thought about how much the browser contributes to the speed at which a web page loads up. At least not until recently. The speed of your browser can make a huge difference to the...
Pros: We have JavaScript support now, which makes Opera a nearly a complete web browser (all it needs is Java) Cons: We need Java support (but, that's coming)
There are quite a quite a few members of the BeOS (Be Operating System by Be, Inc.) community who feel they have been forsaken be Be. Why? Because Be has decided to focus on another product, BeIA, and in doing so has halted production on Net+, the BeOS...
Pros: Works on almost any operating system, nice interface, skinable, compatible Cons: Costs $30 for the ad-free version, not 100% compatible
I was introduced to Opera by a friend and intrigued by its compatibility. It works with almost every operating system out there, is small, and is easy to use. I use it on Windows, the registered version and love it. I like the window-in-window mode, I...
If you are tired of the usual bloated browsers that take forever to load & take even longer than that to display a single web page then it's about time you consider shifting to Opera.
Pros: It opens the half a page it can understand very very fast Cons: Poorly supported script methods, no Java support included, and you have to pay for this one!
Opera is a browser that is indeed fast. Faster than MS IE 5. If you want to browse text quickly then this is the program for you. If you want to properly experience the World Wide Web however you are in for some disappointment.
Pros: Opera's Newest Version Has an Excellent Feature Set Cons: Still in Beta, Some Problems
Opera--An Alternative Web Browser
This is a review of Opera's 32-bit version 4.0 Beta 2 for Win 98/2000/NT. I had tried previously and dismissed the earlier versions of Opera primarily because of the very strange rendering of web pages....
Pros: FREE, small file size, functional, plenty of options Cons: Email difficult to integrate
Opera is an alternative browser to using internet explorer or netscape. For those of you who want a great browser (one of which I'm writing this opinion while using) take a look at Opera. This browser offers many choices and is smaller than most...
Pros: Fast, leaves other browsers in the dust, small, few crashes. Cons: Limited plug-in support, can't upload pics to the web.
Zip Along Faster
When you are forced to use a dial-up modem, then Internet speed is really all that matters. Through put, bandwidth and ping are all dandy things to know, but what good does it do you if your browser crawls? The AOL version...
Pros: small, lean Cons: missing functionalities, incompatible, not free
Opera is a small web browser - the Win 95/98/NT version with 1.3 MB maybe the smallest browser available for these OS platforms.
Fits easily on a floppy, takes less memory because it utilizes the old MDI concept. If you open 3 urls, you have only...
Pros: Very fast browser, with lots of features. Cons: None found
I first found out about Opera back in 1997, and since then I have followed its development, downloading and using all the different versions that have been released by Opera Software.
At first I was absolutely amazed by the speed that this...
Opera is my browser of choice, and had to earn that spot. As a web developer for the last 4 years, I spend a lot of time working on web sites and with a browser. IE was much better than Netscape to work with when 4.0 and then 5.0 came out. It used style...
Pros: little smaller, little faster Cons: little dumber, not free
I can understand a Netscape user who runs it on Linux. I can even somewhat understand a Netscape user who runs it on Windows, since while IE is clearly better at least both browsers are comparable and free. But while nobody in the sane mind attempts to...
Pros: Fastest browser Cons: Not as compatible as others
For those of us who are lagged by the internet browser more than the internet connection Opera comes off as a very nice browser. Delivering abundant speed it does have its detractions.
I hate getting into the detractions first, but I'm going...
Pros: Compact size; speedy; customizable; free version available; standards compliant. Cons: Laughable price tag (or obtrusive ad banner); Many pages won't load correctly.
The people at Opera software are finally beginning to smarten up and now offer a free version of their handy little browser. The free version provides just about all the functionality of the still costly registered one, but boasts a pretty large ad...
Note: This opinion was written after using version 3.62. I am currently trying version 4.0, and plan a rewrite after more experimentation. However, I have found a few changes already, and have edited some points to include those changes. ...
Pros: Fast and efficient, full of features. Cons: Doesn't support some types and is a bit erratic at times, has ads.
I recently downloaded Opera after it was recommended to me by someone I know. Microsoft's widely used Internet Explorer had been acting ill-fated for me in recent days. Most pop-ups would cause invalid page faults, an error prevented me from using...
Opera has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Opera is faster than either AOL/Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, and is smaller than either of them too. Opera supports most internet standards including HTML, XML, Cascading Style...
Pros: Good Page Rendering, Very Fast, Features that Internet Explorer and Netscape Cons: Need to pay for it, lacks certain features that might be annoying.
Opera: noun
1) a musical form where a play is put to music and dialogue is sung instead of spoken.
2) a web browser that has the potential of giving real competition to Netscape and Internet Explorer.
Pros: Small footprint, Stable, Easy on system resources Cons: Plugin availability, Some Java operation questions
In a world of free browsers, I spent the money to become a registered user of Opera. I first tested the software at version 3.6, paid for registration at 3.62, and am now running the latest release, 4.01.
Pros: Easy to use, VERY fast Cons: doesn't always refresh properly, unable to log in to some pages
Of the 4 browsers I have installed on my computer, Opera version 4.02 is the one I use the most. It's much faster at finding the webpages than IE, Netscape, or Neoplanet, and while a little different in the page setup, is not difficult when you get used...
Pros: Fast, Small now FREE Cons: Ad ware, a very small con for me not others
In 1994 two guys working for Norway’s telecom company decided to build a better browser. Unlike Netscape and Microsoft they did not use Mosaic but started from scratch, when there were done they had themselves a web browser that fit on a floppy disks....
Pros: Fast, efficient, fun, many preferences, great resource tools, skinnable Cons: Banner ads on free version, will take time to learn all your options
When I was a content editor, I most often used Netscape. I also checked my work in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer because it utilized different codes. Competition between browser companies has been fierce for years. It was enough to make the most seasoned...
Pros: Fast, small installation file, good search options. Cons: Bad layout, no toolbar customization, problems with displaying Web pages.
Recently, Opera 5 has been released, and it is finally free. Well, sort of... It’s a banner-sponsored product, and you’d still have to pay around $40 to get rid of that banner. So many friends have recommended this browser that I decided to give it a...
Pros: small d/l, fast and lean, multi-tab function Cons: a few quirks, but nothing major
I originally was interested in using a browser that would run a microsecond faster on my rather passe pentium 266 with a cable modem. I felt that IE5 took just a tad too long to load up even with a blank page. then i checked out alternative browsers. I...
Pros: Customise it, integrates email/news, small, fast, low-resources consumer. Cons: Website owners code poorly documents and it looks ugly on Opera
Opera, one of the smallest browsers available with only 2 megas of file size (fits in two diskettes), is a quick and worth download for every Internet user. Either a newbie or a power-user, you will find everything the other two major players promises...
Pros: Fast, efficient, easy to use Cons: Not free, no Active X support
Opera is a truely unique browser, and Operasoftware is a unique company. If you look at the major players, both Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer are both based on the original Mosaic browser. Opera is the only browser that is not based on...
Pros: Small, quick quick quick, customizable, great handling of whether to load or not load images Cons: Won't handle the big "whistles and bells" of some websites, isn't free (I found the price reasonable, but some people are put off having to pay at all)
I'm one of those people who looks for content, not flashy design, when visiting websites, and Opera is definitely the browser to handle my needs. It's small, it's fast, it allows a lot of great customization by the user, and - the big selling point for...
Pros: Very small and fast Cons: Still very new, and not supported by NetZero
Let's take a look at a third option, shall we? America always prides itself on the two-party system, and a third-party candidate is usually pushed off as a joke. But if Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer are the Democrats and the...
Pros: Very compact yet reature rich browser which speeds up surfing experience. Cons: Not widely used so some sites behave strangely.
Opera 6 is here, time to replace the old faithful Internet Explorer!
This browser is a must for all serious surfers and Eminions it will speed up that all important habit which you must of formed now you are reading my rant. I accept that...
If you are longing for a faster, more efficient and simply better Internet experience, without having to pay, Opera 5+ is the answer through the new ad-sponsored version. Sail across the web with this super-speedy, flexible, and efficient...
Pros: fast, easy, window modes, customizable Cons: some Javascript errors, ad banner
Opera seems to be the third browser in the market. This review is about Opera 6 with Java.
It is absolutely faster than Internet Explorer and Netscape. For this review I will be comparing it with IE 6 and Netscape 4.77. The program with Java...
Pros: Fast, Small, Impressive Features Cons: Unable to display some client-side scripts, Difficulty in Installing Plug-in.
First time i experienced Opera, I think it was very great. At that time I's using a 486 machine and IE was too slow. The Opera is very small (approximately 1.3 Mb). and use less amount of memory while its performance are able to compete with the major...
Pros: Fast, lots of features, really fast, customizable, blinding speed Cons: Little or no advanced html support
When you download Opera, the first thing you notice is that it's FAST. That might have something to do with the fact that it's small, takes up less RAM, uses less processing power, or might just be some good code optimization by their programmers. But...
It is frustrating that I can't use Opera as a primary browser - I don't care for Internet Explorer, and Netscape is not very reliable, but both those monolith browsers are unfortunately superior. Opera is always *on the verge* of becoming the perfect...
Pros: Small, fast, standards-compliant, fairly stable, cross-platform. Cons: Doesn't get along with some sites!
Years ago, I was heavily involved with the GEOS operating system. Another user - in South Africa, I think - tired of trying to evangelize for GEOS, and got involved with a project I'd never heard of, called Opera.
Pros: Fast, efficient, allows for greater user control. Cons: Not widely recognized or supported, ad-supported (unless you pay for it).
I begin with an admission: I've been using Internet Explorer for nearly 5 years. After all, it's free, comes with my computer, and is the most widely supported browser around. But after years of putting up with seemingly random crashes (despite several...
Pros: Great speed, small program Cons: Lacks in features
For all of you poor 486 owners, you have found out that all of the new IE5 and Netscapes dont run very well on your computers. You have different routes to go here. You can download a later version and hope that it works, but many later versions still...
Pros: Small, very fast and very stable Cons: Small advertisement, Java problems
Opera 5.01 is the latest and undoubtably the best Opera web browser ever made. In my opinion it is better then both Netscape and Internet Explorer, you will see why soon. I had previously tried Opera, around version 3, and even though it was incredibly...
Pros: Lightweight, non-intrusive to your system, fast, standards-compliant Cons: Many complain about the missing cup-holders from IE
Like many Opera users, I found this browser in the search for an alternative to the Heavyweight Champ (IE) and its First Contender (Netscape). IE was insecure (I could be 'hacked' by adolescents with less computing knowledge than myself) and arrogant...
Pros: small program, speedy, multiple window handling Cons: plugins, no auto-URL completion
If you're tired of Netscape taking 5 minutes to load, and you're sick of Internet Explorer trying to take over your computer, I'd highly recommend you try out the Opera web browser. Many people haven't heard of it, but I really think it's an excellent...
Pros: Small, Very low system requirements Cons: Buggy, Isn't the standard, Low on features, Multi-tasks badly
Opera is a product that is small (only 1.29 MB for the Windows 95/98/NT English version) and works on slow computers (386 SX w/6 MB of RAM and above). Those are its good points.
Its bad points are many. Chiefly, Opera cannot and will not ever...
Pros: Small , fast, fun browser, excellent usability features. Cons: Some sites are NS/IE bigots and block Opera use.
I have used the Opera browser off and on for several years. The recent release of version 4 finally won me over and Opera is now my preferred browser. Why? Because I simply find the design and interface superior to either Netscape (my second favorite)...
Pros: Light and fast, multiple window panes, right-click validation, css support. Cons: unstable, i get a couple freezes a week with windows win95 and win98.
I started using Opera as a secondary browser a couple of years ago. It is a smaller program than MS IE or Netscape, and loads/runs fast, even on older computers. Opera also has good support of cascading style sheets--a design tool for web pages.
...
When I stumbled across this browser, it was a very good day. (more or less ;>) If you want a small and speedy way of going around on the net, then Opera is for you! I did a few quick tests, and Opera beat the pants off of IE 4 for bringing up pages......
Pros: small, fast, multiple open urls, image scalability Cons: lack of add-ins
Opera became my web browser after I tired of the disk hogging, slow and clumsy antics of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator. Being compact (1.6 MB), it was fast (assembly and machine language only need apply!) and remains so in it's...
Pros: Very good user interface model; informative and controllable software; an easy software migration for IE users Cons: Slightly buggy, annoying help interface, ad sponsored
These are my extensive thoughts on Opera 5.00 for Windows 98/2000/NT. This is the latest version of Opera (although a bug fix release has very recently come out) at the time of writing.
Pros: Fast, reliable, many well integrated functions Cons: Sometimes Java doesn't work very well, plug-in support not well integrated
Having used Opera for about six months already, I am well acquainted with all its features and pitfalls, and I can only say that Opera has made the internet a much better experience in many ways.
Pros: Speedy, well-written, slim, great display Cons: price
It's been a long time since anyone has had to actually pay for a Web browser. We're used to them being bundled with our new computers, for being available for download for free. Opera challenges this assumption - the assumption that Web browsers are...
Pros: ease of use, price($0.00), productivity Cons: some bugs
When it comes to web browsers, nothing can even come close to the wonder that is Opera. What sets this free browser apart from all others is the fact that rather than getting in your way with interfaces and pop up adds, Opera instead CLEARS the way for...
Opera, to me, is like a gem laying amid a pile of refuse. While IE fills up phantom directory after phantom directory with multiple copies of the same stupid cookies, it glares at any other program(s) you dare to run and does its very best to spill some...
Pros: Brilliantly fast, perfect for multitasking, and the wonderful hotlist Cons: Not as robust as other browsers, the stupid advert bar
I am a student and thus I am constantly doing desperate research for hours at a time. As a student here is what I need a browser to do:
* Be stable
* Be fast
* Be simple
* Be useful
If speed is everything to you, then you might like Opera. But if you are primarily interested in speed you might try using Internet Explorer with the images switched off. If you are interested in enjoying web pages, seeing them as they were meant to be...
Pros: Very small and efficient Cons: May not have all the extras of the big browsers, but that's not always a con :)
Opera may not have every little feature that Netscape or Internet Explorer have, but it's a wonderful browser! It has all the truly necessary features and a lot of extras. It does web browsing, email and news. But the best part of all is it's only...
A free software better than internet explorer and nescape!
The downloading of this navigator is simple taking into account the
weight file on installation(2.3 Mo). Opera is proof of the same modesty
in its material requirements,...
Pros: Nothing to lose with trial for 30 days Cons: Costs $30, not recommended for cutting web tech
Are you tired of how slow Netscape browser loads up? Do you access the web mainly for retrieving e-mail and surfing non-intensive graphical animations? "Opera" is a viable alternative solution for quick and reliable usage. You have nothing to...
Pros: Very small compaired to others, multiple webpages at once Cons: slightly difficult to figure out if you don't read the directions, cost
The newest Opera internet browser (4.02 at time of write) is a vast improvement over the earlier versions, and that's saying a lot because those were good too. To start off on a good foot, the browsers install program is only slightly over 1 megabyte...
I use a Psion 5 MX with a 56k travel modem to be able to browse the internet at any place I want. Until know this was quite frustrating using the Web browser which is provided by Psion itself: it was slow, the web pages were hard to read and the program...
Pros: speed, ease of use Cons: lacks java support, compatibility problems
Opera is currently my favorite browser. It's loading time beats all other competitors. However this program is not very popular so it is not compatible with a lot of addition software/plugins that Netscape and IE are. It may not have the java...
Pros: Quick, Small download Cons: Not my first choice
Why I gave Opera a shot
Not being able to get to Microsoft today, and the fact that the Internet Explorer 4.0 browser that came on the OS on this machine would not let me check my work or web-based email, I decided to try Opera again....
Pros: Efficient Interface, small size Cons: lack of standards, not completely stable
Hey now this is an impressive little program. I worked with Opera for quite a while and I was impressed. The interface is simple and no nonsense. It was designed for the efficient user. It kept my computer running smoothly and took far less resources...
Pros: Fast, easy to use, pop up killer, download manager, starts were you left off Cons: does not work with all sites
I have been using this browser for a long time now and I love it and I only use IE (Internet Explorer)for sites that do not work with Opera like pcpitstop.com’s tests. I have tried other browsers like Netscape but Netscape messed my computer up.
...
Some people want their MTV - I want my Opera! I have been running Opera for over a year now and it totally changed my surfing experience. Previous to Opera, I ran Netscape or Microsoft IE and literally crawled along, even reading mail was a hideously...
Pros: Fast, small Cons: Not Fast Enough, Not a Global Product
Internet means Global.
Global means that you can communicate with other countries
in native form.
With Internet Explorer, with optional foreign language fonts installed,
one can go from New York to Paris, to Vietnam to Hong Kong...
Pros: Fast, Plenty of Useful Links, Print Preview Mode Cons: Not a Pretty Browser?
Opera was losing out !
When it seemed that Opera was being replaced by browser add-ons like Neoplanet and NetCaptor, Opera Software comes out with Opera version 4.x that has the features like the tabbed windows that NetCaptor became popular for....
Pros: Blazing speed, ease of use, small download Cons: No java or scripting support
Opera is fast. That's not to be debated. Compared to the industry leading MS Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator/Communicator, it's a tiny download. The interface is simple. These are the advantages of Opera.
Pros: Easy to Use Cons: Not that fast and Not that cheap
For a long time I have used Netscape Navigator as my browser of choice and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever with it, but in my quest for something a little different, after checking out all the available browsers on the market, I decided to...
Pros: Small, Lots of Features Cons: Beta software. Other browsers are free
Anybody who has read my review of Netscape 6 Preview Release 1 may already have some idea why I went looking for Opera. I have an ancient laptop PC with no disk space, no speed, no memory, and a crummy LCD screen. Internet Explorer doesn't come...
Pros: Stability, Ease of Use Cons: Not as fast as Internet Explorer
You are unable or unwilling to run Internet Explorer 4 or 5. You have been stuck using Netscape Communicator. it crashes. it crashes again. it takes ages to load and then crashes again. You are thinking about going to Silicon Valley with a gun.
Pros: small download , doesn't hog resources and good bookmark system. Cons: manual addon install (they may not work correctly) not a free program.
This is a very good browser that hardly ever crashes at all. It crashes when you visit xoom sites and some other sites but this is due to those sites and Opera is currently attempting to find this problem and fix it. But otherwise a very very good...
Pros: Small disk space required, loads pages quickly, less security risk Cons: minimal email client, trouble with dhtml and scripting
First of all, let me point out something vital to Operas' main purpose for existence; Opera was created as an alternative to Netscape and IE. It was made for users who have limited disk space, or running legacy systems.
Pros: It's different-looking. Cons: Slow, downloads don't work, not worth your money.
Last summer I was frantically looking for the perfect web browser to suit my needs. I was sick of all the useless junk that came with Netscape and IE; stuff like e-mail programs, news readers, and other accessories I prefer to use independent...
Opera, like Linux attracts the popular "underdog mentality" crowd. Take a look at magazines, newsgroups and chat rooms and you'll find all sorts of people praising it, but few criticizing it. To me, Opera had better come up with plenty of...
Pros: Fast, easy to combine e-mail and web surfing. Cons: No ActiveX support; flash difficulties.
Opera is the best web browser I have used so far. I have had no crashes or program conflicts, as I have had with both Netscape and MSIE. The interface is very easy and simplistic; you can use web-based email within the interface, and to make it easier,...
Pros: fast, doesn't EVER crash Cons: Toolbar is too wide.
If you are, as I am sick of Netscape crashing, and IE being slow and unwieldy then you are in for a treat with Opera. It loads sites quickly and it never crashed on me. And believe me I tried to make it crash. The interface takes a little getting used ...
Pros: Small, fast, versatile! Cons: Our monopoly-run world is ruining Opera's chances.
I've been using Opera for a couple of years now. It's a /great/ web browser. It far outshines any other browser, including Lynx. It's small, it's fast, and it's so very easy to use with just keyboard commands. Since I /hate/ the mouse, I love Opera. ...
Pros: Fast browser, easy to use Cons: Costs money, not all plug-ins work
Opera has earned a spot on my one touch start-up list. Although I have the latest versions of Netscape and MSIE, it is Opera that I use for the majority of my web surfing. It does not support Java natively, but the Sun plug-in does do a good job of...
Pros: Fast, trim, great for multi-tasking Cons: Back button is weird, plugins aren't as smooth
I am currently using IE 4.72, Netscape Communicator 4.7, and Opera 3.60. I hate IE, but some of my work's internal apps only run on IE, so I am forced to use it sometimes. Netscape is good (my favorite is Navigator Gold 3.04, but its get a bit old),...
Pros: Very small and very quick. Cons: Oddly configured and behind the curve of the top two browsers.
Yeah, that's right, Opera. Although, this web browser has had little publicity in the US, it's apparently all the rage in Europe (thanks Marcus). The team who developed this browser hail from the icy colds of Norway. I'm not going to make any jokes...
Pros: Sleek and resource light. Cons: none noted, at least none worth harping about.
Got Linux, any Windows version, BEOS, a MAC, etc? Opera is for virtually every OS out there.
I teach technical PC courses, including Inter/Intranet usage. I have been using the Internet since the WWW began, and have tried most of the browsers...
Pros: Customizable down to every option you can imagine, strict adherence to HTML standards Cons: Most web pages are not designed by standards, so many sites will look awkward.
In today's industry, with all the competition, it is nice to see a product that is designed from the ground up to be purely adherent to the standards.
Opera has impressed me very much because of its strict adherence to the HTML standards that have...
Pros: Small and Fast. Easily configured. Cons: Not many once you get to know the program
I was blown away by Opera a few years ago. I was just entering college and did not have the money to buy a new computer. I was using Windows 3.11 on a 486 with 4 megs of ram. Opera basically saved me. It didn't bog down my computer and it was easy to...
Pros: very fast, lots of options and extras - impressive! Cons: not free, but cheap.
Sorely disappointed by Netscape 6 and definitely not a fan of Internet Explorer, I just began using Opera 5 and am highly impressed. The browser is incredibly fast, bloat-free, and hasn't crashed on me yet. I am overwhelmed by the many options and...
I have tried to use the Opera browser. I did not see anything that I feel is as good as Netscape. I Just really was not impresses with any thing about this browser. I feel that is is just a generic browser that wants to be in the mainstream. However, I...
I have not found that very many sites I like work well with Opera. There is one bookmark management site however, that supports Opera. The site allows you to store, organize, and share bookmarks as well as search public bookmarks on topics of interest....
Pros: Ultimate customization, Quick, free Cons: A bit of trouble with some scripts such as those written specifically for Internet explorer
So it all started when my room mate and I were searching for a new browser because iexplore just wasn't doing the trick, and he comes across this little freeware program called opera. So we install it and are blown away by how fast the connection goes...
Pros: Its a good, fast and easily usable browser. Cons: Freeware version shows adds.
Minimum configuration:
- 386 PC with 6 MB of RAM and 4 MB of free disk space
(Please note that the version of Opera 5.0 that includes Java
requires at least a Pentium 166MHz processor, 32 MB of RAM and 65 MB
free hard...
Too bad it's not universally accepted... by psychocats ,Oct 05 '03
Pros: Navigation. Cons: Universality.
I love Opera. It's easy-to-use and extremely customizable. For example, instead of clicking merely on "source," you have the option to view "frame source" as well. You can open new pages in new pages or background pages and not just in new windows--I find this feature wonderful when I'm navigating through many, many pages (especially some that are slow-loading). The big drawback of Opera--it's not universally accepted. Some sites are not optimized for Opera--others merely won't accept it; they'll tell you to use either IE or Netscape. So, I use Opera for most of my navigation, but I keep IE handy, just in case I need it.
The best gets even better. by movie12345 ,May 24 '04
Pros: tabbed browsing (MDI), mouse gestures, speed Cons: Not 100% compatible (webpages designed for internet explorer)
I recently upgraded to opera 7.5 from 7. This version is even better. It adds IRC chat and is more stable than the previous version. It keeps my favorite features as they were. Like mouse gestures, tabbed browsing (MDI). Of course, using this browser has its drawbacks. A few websites are not compatible with it, and there is a banner ad if you do not register. However, I plan to register this new version. I have used both windows and linux versions. Consistent interface across the environments.
