Pros: Free! great to keep in touch, oh and did i mention it is free?
Cons: Can be unreliable, but new version is alot more stable.
Summary: I joined yahoo chat about 2 years ago, was only in there for 5 mins before I was downloading messenger. Back then it was a simple messenger tool, just like your MSN. It was unreliable, pretty basic, and pretty common.

Pros: Stable, easy to download, install and to use.
Cons: None that I can think of - I love it.
