Pros: Invisible mode, Yahoo alerts, IMvironments, Private Chat rooms, Offline messages, & more Cons: None
I use three basic instant messengers. Not that three is a special number, just some friends and family only use this one or this other one. Anyway, they are AOL Instant Messenger, Windows/MSN Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger.
Yahoo is one of...

Pros: Friendly folks, good info, interesting topics. Cons: Can be so addicting!
We Epinheads are funny people! First of all, we write a couple hundred reviews on Epinions.com itself, then we form a club to talk about Epinions, and now we're writing reviews on the club about Epinions! I hope we don't descend any farther down the...

Pros: easy to learn, can be personalized Cons: none
Yahoo! Messenger is the most useful tool I have on my computer. There may be other devices that offer more in depth service, but for a novice like me, Yahoo! Messenger is perfect. When I first downloaded the Messenger, I had no idea of it's capabilities,...

Pros: Varied and Creative emoticons, hidden emoticons, many formatting options, status option, send file option Cons: Conferencing
Ahhhhh! Internet speak, despite my great linguistical interests and love of high brow British literature, I love it. Its quick, trendy, sleek, spunky, exclusive, ever-changing, versatile, and progressive (yes, I read the thesaurus for fun). And since I...

Pros: easy to use; offers text/voice chat, mail alerts, file-sharing, etc. Cons: tends to lose messages; not the most reliable server.
"Can you see this?"
"Hello?"
"Hello?!?"
I think everyone has experienced the above-mentioned internet conversation at least once. I remember the first time I IM'd with my mom using AIM, ending up making her get my kid sister (who...

Pros: easy way to make friends, easy download Cons: none
I was just recently introduced to the internet from a good friend and one of the first things I ever downloaded was yahoo messenger. I love it, and my daughter loves it!
I have met some of the nicest people through the messenger, plus able to add...

Pros: many features, combines many types of accounts, very clear chat Cons: not many people use it
Yahoo! Messenger is only one of the two messenger services that I use. Yahoo! Messenger and Aol Instant Messenger are my two primary messenger services. The two of them have been competing for my attention. Almost every month they both come out with...

Pros: easy to use, access to Yahoo content Cons: voice chat
I use Yahoo Messenger quite a bit, especially when chatting with my brother in Spain. He is stationed there, he is a Seabee in the U.S. Navy, I convinced him that he already used Yahoo for his email, why not download Messenger and try it out? You will...

Pros: Sheer number of options, quite secure. Cons: No IRC style chat options
Oh, I just love Yahoo! Messenger! This program used to be called Yahoo! Pager, but with the recent addition of new features came a new name. Y!M's features include: Email/Personals/Calendar/Stock/Buddies tracking (Alerts), Stock portfolio's, News,...

Pros: Easy to use, will notify you of incoming mail in your Yahoo email. Cons: A little buggy sometimes
I first started off with ICQ. I thought it was the neatest thing in the world! Plus I could link it to a POP email account I had and it would notify me of new mail. But I eventually stopped using it because it was constantly taking me offline and not...

Pros: ease of use Cons: can only be invisible to all.....not just one person at a time
I have had Yahoo pager and now messenger and recommend it to all my friends. I also use ICQ and enjoy it also...and use AIM when I have to family communication. But Yahoo has some features that I enjoy for itself.
First is the ability to be...

Pros: Better than nothing.. Cons: Slow, Unpopular, Poor service
These days, when we think of instant messenging, almost always the names ICQ and AOL come to mind, and almost never Yahoo. The reasons for this association ore fairly simple: AOL and ICQ are far newer, more developed, and, well, are a heck of a lot...

Pros: Another popular IM service, quick e-mail check Cons: No need if you already have ICQ or AOLIM
Yahoo! Messenger is a great web utility to chat with friends over the internet. Yes, it is just like America Online and ICQ, but this will let you mix Yahoo! sites with Yahoo! members.
If I have America Online or ICQ already, why should...

Pros: Free! great to keep in touch, oh and did i mention it is free? Cons: Can be unreliable, but new version is alot more stable.
I joined yahoo chat about 2 years ago, was only in there for 5 mins before I was downloading messenger. Back then it was a simple messenger tool, just like your MSN. It was unreliable, pretty basic, and pretty common.
The basics:
Yahoo!...
