Pros: You're not forced to use them any more! Cons: Their service has always been terrible.
It used to be that Network Solutions had a monopoly on domain name registrations. This derived from a U.S. government contract their predecessor company had before the Internet reached the degree of commercialism it now has; originally they were merely...
Pros: Pro's anyone? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? Cons: The IRS has nothing on Network Solutions
Network Solutions (NSOL) is a company with a 14.132B Market Cap, and a $1 customer service philosophy.
The company I work for owns five domain names. So, I've had enough negative experiences with Network Solutions to determine that there is...
Pros: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!! Cons: Not enough space here. See my review.
1st things 1st: A single "HIDDEN" unhelpful rating on these negative NSI epinions tends to show up directly after posting. Here's a hint to the hidden rater...no one's buying it
I joined epinions quite some time ago and my focus...
Pros: Hmmm... they sometimes get it right Cons: Waste of valuable time and resources
I've been using the services of Network Solutions (recently taken over by VeriSign who has done very little if anything to solve the previous problems) for a year now with the company I work for since we have at least 400 domains (not an exaggeration,...
Pros: solid site with good reputation Cons: $35 a year is too much for domain registration
Network Solutions used to be one of the few entities that was able to monopolize a significant part of the world of the web. No more. Network solutions now has to compete with rival doman registration sites. Furthermore, many other web sites now offer...
Pros: can't think of one Cons: lack of customer support
Having registered my first domain name almost 2 years ago, I had no other choice but to use Network Solutions. Luckily for me, my ISP was willing do all the work for me; after all, I was paying them to host the site. I sat there and watched him navigate...
Pros: None. Cons: Price, No customer service. Hideous horrible interface.
You have absolutely no idea how thrilled I was to discover that there is an entire section here devoted to Network Solutions, nor how overjoyed I am that this review won't be buried in a pile of dot-com reviews. Because I need to spread the word that...
Pros: None Cons: Expensive. Difficult as hell to make changes. They're under FCC investigation.
The hosting company for one of my sites setup my domain name with NSI back in the day.. and I've been trying to make changes to the record. One because I moved, and secondly because I want to change hosting companies.
Pros: Biggest Domain Registrar Cons: Too Big to Care About You
I've been working with different companies on internet and network design, architecture, and support for about ten years now. During that time, I've found that there are two companies that you'll always regret having to deal with. The first is US...
Back in June I decided to purchase a domain name. This would be my first go at something like this so I contacted a good friend mine to ask where he started and he put me in touch with his Domain Host. The Host Company told me that my first step would be...
Pros: I can't say anything nice at this point Cons: Customer Service is a joke
I have read several of the opinions on Network Solutions but I read too late! I will agree that this is the most nonsense I have ever had to deal with. To register my domain was no problem in fact that was the smoothest transaction I had to make....
Having used the Internet for a decade, and written about Network Solutions and related topics for a book that's coming out next month, I was happily surprised by the opportunity to review them. That's not to say I'll pull any punches, though.
If you are considering registering a domain name, then save yourself a great deal of trouble and avoid Network Solutions at all costs. Their practices border on fraudulent, and their incompetence defies description. If possible, a 0-star rating would...
Pros: The Who Is lookup is Keen. Cons: They charge to much, customer service has been very bad, don't offer enough extras like the cheaper registrars do.
I am so glad there is more than one place to purchase domain names now. I do remember purchashing my first domain name with Network Solution. It was good training since the possibility is there as a webdesigner to register a domain name for a...
Pros: \No pros. They are backed by Satan. Cons: Horrendous, horrendous customer service. Confusing processes.
Where do I start? The problem is this company was at one time a monopoly. They have a monopoly mentality. That is, Customer Be Damned. Fortunately, there is now competition. These guys apparently have failed to realize it. Read all about my fun...
Pros: Easy to navigate their site Cons: what a rip off, very very long process just to make changes, nasa-like terminology
I have learned allot tonight just by reading other peoples reviews on this company! I had heard that they were pretty rotten to their customers, but I didn't realize the volume of the problem.
I have dealt with network solutions about 4 times...
Pros: Free Headaches and customer support heartburn Cons: Passive aggressive support representatives, bureaucratic stupidity
Dealing with Network Solutions, my registrar, to make changes,
update the records, transfer the domain name server from the
old host to the new is one of the most frustrating and pro-
tracted battles I've ever had to fight! I thought...
Pros: still looking for one Cons: poor customer service, expensive registry fees
Network Solutions in it's heyday used to hold the monopoly on domain registrations. They would charge you $70.00 for 2 years worth of owning the domain name of your choice. So you had better pick your name carefully or you're out some big bucks. Plus...
Let me tell you why Network Solutions promotes hair loss... Originally Network Solutions did capitalize on the domain registrations. When they were deregulated for being the monopoly, people didn't have to put up with their disorganized and inefficient...
Pros: online interface is getting better Cons: poor procedure for updating information, too expensive
I registered rather indirectly with Network Solutions without even realizing it. I originally started out with the free Namezero.com service, which registers domains for its users free of charge and handles all the admin/tech/billing contact info and...
background: I have a rather simple asp site with a MS Access DB. Some of my pages seemed rather slow when they hadn't been served up in a while. This usually means the application pool timeout is too short. here's what happened when I called ...
Pros: Easy access to URL information Cons: Another nightmare, customer-ignoring organization that only exists to make a buck.
I only write this review after 3 attempts to get resolution from Network Solutions' customer service- and I repeated warnings twice to fix this or I would post on multiple websites about their inaction. So, this is in different forms on both Amazon ...
Pros: There are many more alternatives available Cons: Since being acquired by Verisign, reliability and responsiveness to problems have plummeted
Network Solutions has become increasingly unreliable. When I first started using them to host my personal domain and email, I was quite pleased with the reliability and service when I had questions or problems (which were quite rare). However, since...
Pros: Not many Cons: Bad system for changing your account, too expensive, bad customer service
I recently decided to make the jump into my own personal domain name, so I went to Network Solutions to secure it. I paid the $70 to secure the name, and went shopping for some Web Hosting services. I decided on going a different route than the big...
Pros: None that I can think of Cons: Terrible tech support, even worse when you really need some basic information changed
Odd as it may sound, I was rather happy to see I am not the only customer of Network Solutions that had such a terrible experience, so I don't feel so left out!
Now I know that I've simply joined the countless of unhappy customers of this so-called...
I consider myself a very savvy internet user and hosted a number of websites for a number of years. However, when I had a problem with my registered DNS provider, Network Solutions could not help me change to my new one at all. It took them over a month...
4 years ago, Network Solutions seemed to be the go to company. Not by choice, but because they seemed to be the only ones out there. As more and more companies popped up offering lower prices, Network Solutions was the only one who seemed to keep there...
Pros: none until system improved Cons: too many to list
With the head start in the Domain register field, Network Solutions should be the Leader. They have instead used this head start to "fiddle while Rome Burns".
There is no simplicity to the domain registering process, it seems as...
Pros: None Cons: Lack of CS and difficulty in accessing it
I cannot begin to tell you the nightmares I have experienced with Network Solutions! They are by far, the epitome of complacency and incompetence! I am the administrator and webmaster of 2 domains and have never , in my life, been subject to such lack...
Pros: absolutely none Cons: horrible customer disservice, overpriced, will take your domain hostage and not let go
Network Solutions is now employing new and innovative ways... to hold your domain hostage.
Many of us discovered there are better registrars who will renew domains originally registered with NSI at 1/3 of the price and include great features...
Pros: Phone calls were answered quickly Cons: I shouldn't have had to call. They don't have a clue
Network Solutions, in the past, was the only place you could register domain names. That was opened up in recent years, so luckily we have alternatives. They are typically $35/Year and you have to pay for 2 years. Basically that gets you a domain...
Pros: none Cons: monopoly, awful service, impossible to reach anyone with any intelligence
I recently had to add a nameserver to a domain name (so it can be used as a DNS server for other names). Network Solutions is the only place this can be done even though you can register domain names with other companies. The process is simple in that...
Pros: They do get the job done, eventually Cons: Well, usually
When the whole domain name craze started, Network Solutions was the only game in town. At $35 a year (two years minimum to start) for a domain name registration, it really wasn't such a bad deal. And who knows? Maybe if Network Solutions had processed...
Pros: They do register domains Cons: So does everyone else... Much Cheaper
I have several domains registered. The first one I registered, I purchased through Network Solutions. I have purchased 3 more through other registrars, and I an totally happy with the way that all 4 of my domains behave. I will probably never use...
For years Network Solutions has had a monopoly over domain names. They have made a killing at selling domain names at $70 a pop for a two year term without any competition. Since competition has been introduced, the Dot Com People aren't the only Dot...
Pros: Glitzy website? Cons: Unreliable, nobody has a clue how to fix anything, basic mickey-mouse service level offerings.
I've been a customer of Network Solutions on and off, directly and indirectly, for over 20 years. How far they've dropped! They've got a pile of super easy to set up plans for people brand new to the net -- and nothing else of interest to anyone who ...
In addition to their monopoly of domain name registration if you
ever need to change something on your domain name profile you are doomed to confusing maze of hair pulling procedures . And if you think about calling them to make changes to your...
Pros: first guy into this Cons: monopoly, bad customer service, very bad business practice
I had registered two domains so far with Network solutions .. and regret to this day why I used them as my registrar. For one of my domains, I used my usa.net email ID as the email contact and email-from as the authentication method. The domain was...
Pros: none Cons: Thinks they are still a monopoly.
NSI allowed one of my domain names to be hijacked and it took 3 months to get it back. My name was supposed to be protected by password/crypt. I got the email telling me someone was trying to hijack without authorization and they allowed it anyway. I...
Pros: Now that their monopoly is broken, none. Cons: Shabby customer treatment, slow, inefficient, charges hidden fees.
Now that Network Solutions has competition (i.e. register.com), perhaps their top-heavy, customer-hostile monopoly will falter. This would be the best possible outcome for many reasons. The horror stories of dealing with Network Solutions are legion....
Pros: NONE THANK GOD I DIDN'T PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM Cons: USER BEWARE. The hijack your domain name without your knowledge.
Network Solutions uses dishonest tactics to hijack your domain name from you if you use their website to do a domain name search. I Googled domain search and clicked on the first name on the list to perform a domain name search. I found out later ...
Pros: If you have a SERIOUSLY WARPED sense of humour, their ineptitude will make you chuckle. Cons: 15 words! I need atleast 15 pages...THEY CYNICALLY STEAL YOUR DOMAIN NAMES.
BEWARE - JUST BY DOING A DOMAIN AVAILABILITY SEARCH ON THEIR SITE, THEY BUY UP THE DOMAIN AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER IT THROUGH ANY OTHER PROVIDER. THEY ARE MONOPOLISING CROOKS!! However, they will release the domain name after 4 days. ...
Network Solutions is a registrar of domain names. They don't provide hosting services; rather, they are in charge of one of the databases of domain names used by all .com, .edu, .org and .net domains. They used to be the only game in town, but in the...
Network Solutions has long lost interest in you, the customer. I began to foresee their attitude just as I was dealing with them for the first time: I needed to register a domain name in the days you had to do it by phone and the guy that -in my luck- I...
Pros: Easy Signup Cons: Making Changes Is Difficult, Pricing
Network Solutions was for a long time the only option in registering a domain. we are lucky that those days of the network solutions monopoly has passed us by.
The easiest thing with their service is registering. All you do is pick your name...
Pros: Handles domain registration reasonably well Cons: Expensive; poor customer support
Network Solutions and its sister company, Image Cafe are supposed to provide a full range of domain registration and web hosting solutions. In my experience, the navigation of their sites and various areas are cumbersome and slow. Customer support is...
Pros: Absolutely NONE - Even the Better Business Bureau has records of their terrible practices. Cons: Do NOT do business with this company - save your time and money.
They do not issue refunds, they misrepresent their products and WILL NOT respond to ANY concern in a timely fashion. An absolute nightmare. Their protocol is to NOT serve customers - no joke, I found out the hard way and am out $270. The CSRs are polite,...
Pros: Absolutely none Cons: Slow service, unresponsive service, support personnel who know nothing
Unfortunately, while their monopoly of domain registration is gone, their dominance is still there. You may be one of the unfortunate who deals with this company without choice - or because the company you registered with was purchased by Domain...
I just can not believe a company with service like this is still around. They used to be pretty much a monopoly and maybe people are scared to try someone new. Let me tell you, it doesn't have to be this difficult! This is probably more of a rant than...
Pros: NONE! Cons: IF YOU WANT TO MAKE CHANGES, TAKE OUT THE ASPIRIN, AND PREPARE FOR A MIGRAIN!
It is more expensive and they make it nearly impossible to change ANYTHING. Even the simplest things which should be automated are hard to change. To make changes they have an e-mail based 'automated'(only in theory) system that always fails. You then...
I was very suprised to see the number of bad reviews Network Solutions has received. myself, I have a domain registered with them( http://www.quattorequii.com ) and have had no problems with them whatsoever. From my friends, many of which have domains...
As with all the other opinions for network solutions on this site, I am in total agreement with them. These guys suck! Basically there is no customer support, I was put on hold for over 1 hour until I hung up. When I finally did get a hold of someone...
In 15 years of working with computer related customer and technical support, Network Solutions easily ranks at the absolute bottom of the barrel AMONG ANY AND EVERY INDUSTRY. We've been trying to transfer the ownership of a domain for the last 4 months....
Pros: None Cons: Unfriendly, no customer support, expensive and unreliable.
Unfortunately I was a good customer with them for the last 5 years and registered more than 30 domains with them. I really never had a problem, but since Verisign took over - OH MY GOD!
Two of my domains just got disconnected without even...
Pros: It is possible sign up new account and they have no problem taking your money. Cons: Death to your name servers.
I have all the problems that others have had with Network Solutions. Mostly the issues hover around communication. The one dilemma that canned Network Solutions with me was the inability to be able to manage my name servers. After 3 months they still...
In my recent encounter with Network Solutions, I discovered that they do not treat their clients as individuals. My request was to change a contact of record and change address and it turned into a 4 month journey to nowhere. It took 15 phone calls (14...
Do not deal with this firm! by the_kingfisher ,Aug 12 '04
Pros: They responded quickly with the suggestion that we pay them for their errors. Cons: They responded quickly with the suggestion that we pay them for their errors.
Network Solutions allowed our domain name to expire without notifying us.
We lost hundreds of emails that will never be found and obviously caused us managerial chaos and serious financial losses.
When contacted, they cleverly slipped out of any responsibility by "sort of" apologizing, and then suggested that if we paid them a nice little bag of cash, they could fix the situation.
In other words, for $150 of our money they would be glad to correct their error.
Nice to know we were in such good hands, but we would now prefer to deal with ANY other firm other than this one
My experience has been good... by derekbu ,Nov 17 '06
Pros: Free coupons for Google and Yahoo Advertising Cons: Site has too much data
...and I say that b/c clearly they are not liked by e-pinions users. I registered 3 domain names and built a site using thier free web builder, imagecafe. I'm just a regular guy with minimal skills and found everything to be relatively easy, the cost to be very reasonable and the service decent.
Imagecafe was frustrating since I couldn't cut and paste text into the site and have it format properly. Once i resigned myself to retyping everything it went fine. the templates suck and you can't alter them...but for a really basic site it is fine (see mine if you want a sample http://www.nycpropertycare.com). It is easy to make a quick change and repost the site again right away with changes. Basically you get what you pay for.
The web-based e-mail is slow and un reliable when working in it directly but since i configured with my MS Outlook and almost exclusivly work this way I haven't had any reliability issues...but i haven't had to check my mail from out of town yet.
For advanced users this may not be what you want but service worked fine for me.
Pros: They were one of very few choices when I signed up. Cons: Terrible service.
I wanted a domain name & email- there were few choices at the time. In the past several months, although they say:
"Avoid the annoying advertisements and restrictions that accompany free e-mail systems!
Protect your business from spam with the included industry-leading Symantec Brightmail Anti-Spam filter. When mass unsolicited e-mails are sent, they are detected almost instantly by the network and intercepted before they reach your inbox!"
what they do is nothing. My mailbox is filled with spam. I have free email addresses that actually do stop spam. They ignore all my requests for help via their e-mail & are next to impossible to get on the phone & useless when I can get a human (I've had other problems that took months to resolve).
Pros: none that I have encountered so far Cons: too numerous to mention
It took me 5 months to get a SSL issue resolved! I wanted the original cert address changed andgot bounced around bewteen customer service and the validation team. Each side transferred me to the other. After 4 months I asked for my $129 back since it looked like I wasn't going to get a cert and I was told, rather snidley, that my 30 day window had expired. Its seems that some of the customer reps I spoke with thought I was entitled to my money back and some of them weren't sure.
They have little twisty maze-like tangle of intermingled User Ids, Accounts, Services, and domains some of which show up in WHOIS and some of which are used for validation. After trying to merge 3 accounts (nope! an account is not a user id) i was told that I couldn't merge the final 2 because of yet some other arbitrary relationship and NetSol rule.
The customer reps all use the same language (let me put you on hold for 1 to 2 minutes) and know only the basic stuff.
Network Solutions Blows by lindalink2me ,Mar 22 '07
Pros: Pretend you're on a treasure hunt on a rat infested island!!! Thrilling. Cons: Hideously user unfriendliness, time suckers, patience killers.
A web hosting solution? Whip out the credit card, because NS is all about sell, sell, sell. They are happy to leave customers chasing for information, wading through page upon page of product and service offers. If you are interested in building your own site at home with your own software and uploading it to the web via NS, beware. NS does makes it very difficult to locate the necessary files and information to complete the task.
They DO NOT have an internal search engine to get to key topics. You have to click, click, click through numerous 'add to cart' pages to unearth what you find.
Pros: Web hosting works as advertised Cons: E-mail doesn't work as advertised
I signed up with Network Solutions (NSI) in September 2007 after my previous web hosting service, a free service from Time Warner's Road Runner, made some changes which prevented my page from working. Road Runner's customer service couldn't help with the problem, so I made the switch to NSI.
I've been getting what I pay for, too. NSI's hosting service is fast and reliable and its customer service people -- human beings, too; not recordings -- are friendly and knowledgeable and always there for me when I call.
But NSI's e-mail service can't be relied on.
In November 2007 it refused for several days to download to my e-mailer, Thunderbird. After the mail began coming again, customer service blamed the problem on "latency," which is like blaming a fire on combustion or blaming a flood on inundation. What the real problem was I never learned. But it happened again in January 2008.
As I write, on January 3, it's still going on. I'm out of there, though. I've set my Network Solutions webmail to forward everything to one of my addresses at another domain, and (for now, at least) that's it for me with Network Solutions e-mail.
Epinions.com periodically updates pricing and product information from third-party sources, so some information may be slightly out-of-date. You should confirm all information before relying on it.
