Pros: free sharing of music & sound bites Cons: violation of copyright laws, users do not always post accurate download speeds
Summary: Okay, it's illegal. There, I said it. I admitted it. If you see Napster as something that's absolutely illegal and there is no way to justify using it, then stop reading right now. I went on a quest on the Internet over the last two years. I ... read more

Pros: Cheaper than a 99-cent-per-song fee, but not worth the savings. Cons: HORRIBLE customer service, overcharging, no warning when they discontinue devices...did I mention horrible customer service?
Summary: What at first seemed like a cheaper way to get my music turned out to be a nightmare involving being overcharged and unassisted. They refused to issue a credit for a month I was never a member! Please take your credit card info and shop elsewhere where ... read more

Pros: less vulnerable to malicious software than pre-metallica. Cons: can't save tracks to disk, costs more than competitors, difficult interface, limited music selection.
Summary: I recently tried the "free" demo of napster (which requires a credt card, and i need to cancel explicitly to keep from being charged). My impression was that napster was based on a subscription fee rather than a per-track payment, like iTunes. This is ... read more

Pros: Free Music, Easy to use, good Instant Message feature Cons: Going to be shut down, Slow
Summary: Yes indeed Napster can be put out but there are alternatives to this easy to use program. First before I tell you about the alternatives I would like you all to know that Napster is very easy to use. It is also under fire for supposedly'stealing' ... read more

Summary: Since you are paying 99. cents for each song, there is almost no reason to buy it online, since you can get it cheaper at a store, true you get to pick out your most favorite songs but when you have a good band, theres a good chance your gonna like every ... read more

Pros: Started a whole wave of P2P networks Cons: Sold out to BMG.
Summary: While I am grateful towards Napster, for being a starting pistol for Gnotella, Bearshare, Morpheus, Kazaa and the superior iMesh, I feel a bit of bitterness towards it.
Let me tell you a story. Napster is a peer to peer network, with two conflicting ... read more

Pros: 385,000 gigs of files and not just mp3s Cons: Some instability and some files are limited to their agents speed
Summary: Napster is dead. Killed by the corps and their ever present hunger for the almighty dollar. Ever hear the myth about the Phoenix? Out of the ashes of one creature comes a greater one? One has risen that that far surpasses its predecessor.

Pros: A Napster Revolution has happened. Cons: Where were you, it's over now.
Summary: Napster began in May 1999, when a young college student at Northeastern University created computer software that allowed users to swap MP3 files with other users of this service. At the time that meant hardly anything to anyone with connection to the ... read more

Pros: the convenience of downloading songs at your leisure without leaving the house Cons: the "free for all" days are over
Summary: Someday we'll be telling our grandkids about the free days of file sharing. We'll be able to tell them that all the music you wanted was absolutely free because of this new frontier called the "Internet". 'Course I'm sure by then they will have some ... read more

Pros: Fast and reliable. Free MP3's and music files Cons: It's not going to last very soon because it's gonna become a pay service
Summary: I've had napster for less than a year and I already got 700+ songs adding up to more than 3 Gigs of music. I'm going to miss it when it turns into a pay service or when it becomes ended. It takes awhile to download, but I have dial up, so it doesn't ... read more

Pros: Great concept Cons: The program's been killed by regulation
Summary: Napster, the name brings admiration and countless smiles to teenagers across the country. The name brings hatred and nightmares to the RIAA and musicians. How can one product so sharply divide communities? And what is the state of Napster today?

Pros: Allows you to download and upload software with charge Cons: Copyrighted songs controversy
Summary: I've used Napster only a few times; I don't have a CD-RW, so I can't burn any songs....sure, I could buy one, but I never enjoy installing new drives ( very cramped conditions inside the computer ).
What IS Napster? It's an internet service ... read more

Pros: It was a great place to get free music when it lasted. Cons: You can't find anything anymore, and now its not free but I know of alternatives.
Summary: Everyone who has a computer connected to the internet has probably heard of Napster and mp3s. But for those of you who have never heard these terms, Napster was a great place for people to trade their mp3s (music files), and it was really great because ... read more

Pros: It is still has 1/20 of the music it used to have Cons: Its going down... Way down...
Summary: Okay let us face the facts, Napster is no longer anything the public can benefit from. When I say this, when you look at napster approximately 10 or 11 months ago they were clearly on a roll. Thousands of people would trade and share mp3 files with ... read more

Summary: Ok people, I searched for an appropriate section so that I may bring you good news. Unfortunatly, there is no section for the amazing program that superceeds Napster. Let's begin...
