Pros: Stable, Slick, Speedy Cons: Too long to wait for the final release
BETA versions are incomplete test releases of upcoming complete software packages. Public BETA versions of operating systems have become common during the last couple of years as developers realized the huge marketing and support impact on their...

Pros: Easy install, fun tour, easy remove Cons: Completely new, awaiting polish
I had very little trouble installing OSX Public Beta, trying it out, and then removing it from my machine. That's probably the most helpful thing I could tell you right now. If you're curious about trying it, go for it. I installed it on top of OS9 on my...

Pros: Stability, cutting-edge interface Cons: Lack of native software
Although MacOS X is currently available only as beta software (in other words, very incomplete), it provides a stunning glimpse at the future of Macintosh computing. I've enjoyed a long history with MacOS X, having first encountered its core technology,...

Pros: Beautiful; the perfect marriage of Unix and the Mac Cons: Can't run video editing software yet
The first truly beautiful operating system
You look at your screen every day. And it looks, well, okay, you suppose. But in the back of your mind there is this feeling there could be something better, that there should be more to your...

Pros: Stable, beautiful interface, really nice CLI Cons: usability challenged, slow, Classic stinks
Looks: I'm sure you've heard ad nauseum about the wonderful interface so I won't go into it.
Useability: So so. Confusing file structure. CLI (command line interface) and GUI present differing file structures. Not too hard to get used to....

The King of Usability Pulls Off Another Miracle!
I of course am referring to Steve Jobs and the attitude (Which inspires even me) of seeing any comment ending in "..... can't be done." as an excuse to make it happen. He usually...

Pros: The graphics interface is really excellent! It cannot be crashed. Cons: Waiting for Classic mode to boot up just to use an OS 9 program.
I give a great bow to Apple, since they are taking a deep and dark step into this new operating system. Since it's the first of its kind, who knows of the possibilities?
First off, I've ran into a lot of people who complain about the Apple...

Pros: A more open system, Improved stability Cons: Not different enough
Mac OS X, as previewed so far, gets good marks for beautifully extending the visual branding but misses an opportunity to enhance the usability of their interface. However, the technical details may be the most interesting part of OS X.
This...

Pros: Fast, powerful, looks cool Cons: Beta software: Still a little buggy and sluggish
OS X - the long wait is over. Next generation, and a whole new beginning. The OS has been rebuilt from the ground up, losing all the detritus that had accumulated in the old Mac OS since 1984. What's it like? First impressions are marvellous. Visually,...

Pros: Gorgeous interface, command line power, easy to use. Cons: Hefty system requirements, still a beta, isn't out yet.
The Positive Side of Mac OS X
As a die-hard PC user for 10 years, you'd think it would take a magic trick to make me want a Mac, much less buy one. OS X is slick and cool, but between Apple's OS wizardry and Microsoft's bungling...

Pros: eye catching interface Cons: stability, bugs
Apple is looking to the new Mac OS X to power their computers into the next generation of computing but is this change really worth it to us loyal mac fans? The new system features a new eye pleasing interface but that's about it. The old trade marks...

Pros: Stable, elegant, ease of use Cons: A little slow - but not bad
I have used OS X for almost two weeks now as my PRIMARY OS. And nothing has gone horribly wrong. Installation was a breeze. I copied my telnet settings over manually and went to town. This is a great OS. I have not had one crash yet. In fact I have not...
