Pros: Glowing promises in the sales literature Cons: Bad documentation, poor tech support
Summary: Before I began installing TurboLinux Workstation 6.0, I decided to actually read the manual. As it turns out, this was a waste of time, because whoever wrote the manual didn't seem to pay much attention to how this software package actually operates. ... read more

Pros: great interface and installation Cons: could never get it to boot
Summary: I am a Linux new-comer, and basically wanted to resuscitate an old P133 for Web-browsing. I first tried Corel Linux but had to return it when the (incredibly slow) installation-from-a-floppy failed. Next I tried TurboLinux Workstation 6.0 and was ... read more

Pros: Linux stability, Workstation class, with no unnesscary server software Cons: Crippeled out of the box, requires a great deal of UNIX knowhow to get "up" in the first place.

Summary: Updated May 26, 2000:
Although I haven't used TurboLinux's desktop product, I've been using their TurboCluster Server clustering solution for approximately a year now, with good results. Yes, that means I've been using it longer than ... read more

Pros: Both CD and manual may be freely copied Cons: X doesn't always work; may have problems handling dual-boot on large drives
Summary: I had tried the Caldera Open Linux distribution and was amazed. A slick and polished implementation that does a remarkable job. The KDE desktop came up automatically and it configured my computer for the X-Window System and ran it flawlessly.

Pros: Rather simple installation. Cons: Very bulky with many useless features.
Summary: After I reviewed Slackware Linux 4 I felt that I was not fair to other Linux distributions. So I downloaded the 400+ megabyte ISO image (behold the power of @Home) of Turbo Linux Workstation 4 and burned a CD. Please note that you can not download Server ... read more
