Pros: Great program for the price! Cons: You still get pop-up ads.
I recently purchased Zone Labs Zone Alarm Pro 3.0 anti-virus protection software for my new Gateway 700XL computer. My Gateway computer came pre-installed with a 30-day trial of McAfee anti-virus protection software. As soon as the McAfee anti-virus...

Pros: powerful Cons: very annoying popup messages that can't be turned off
This product used to be the best product but some geniuses have improved it so that as you browse the web you will constantly be blessed with a pop-up message (that cannot be turned off) saying that privacy settings have affected this site. This message...

Pros: Easy to use and effective Cons: Sometimes intrusive
I went through a lot of firewalls: Norton, Tiny, BlackIce... they all pretty much sucked. I even had problems with the integrated Windows XP firewall because there was no was to allow traffic over IRC (If you dont know what Im talking about,...

Pros: Supposedly blocks pop ups & banner adds Cons: Blocks all internet activity / lousy technical support
I am using Zone Alarm Pro version 3.7.098. Whenever I open the program, all internet activity is blocked. In order to access the internet, I have to shut the zone alarm program down.
When I contacted technical support through their web site, I...

Pros: Can teach beginners the basics of port security. Cons: If time is money, then it isn't free.
I have worked with several versions of the freeware and the full version of Zone Alarm, and have not found any of them to be completely stable - especially on NT platform operating systems. I have experienced too many crashes and unusual behavior to...

Pros: None Cons: Everything
I downloaded the free version of zone alarm, and initially was impressed. But then, it began to do strange things. I play Descent 3 multiplayer on the internet, and Zonealarm interferes with the game. I sent them an email to ask them if the purchased...

Pros: Highly funtional, feature rich firewall Cons: Lots of options, difficult to understand initially (but worth it)!
With all the talk about potential hackers breaking in you personal home PCs I decided to invest in a firewall. There were several options out there but I liked the look of the ZoneAlarm interface so I gave it a try.
This application is very...

Pros: Great concept, original format easy to use,
promising technology.
Cons: Questionable integrity (is Zone Alarm *CAUSING* Intrusion Attempts with its defaults?)
We are growing increasingly frustrated over the lack of a good, reliable, HONEST Firewall that can protect our machines while we are on the Internet. We've tried at least four or five firewall products in the past couple years and have yet to find what...

Pros: Stops inbound AND unwanted outbound traffic, good ad blocking. Cons: TERRIBLE SUPPORT. Not for a newbie or the faint of heart.
This review is of Zone Alarm Pro version 3.1.395 (original post from 10/02).
I recently switched from Black Ice to Zone Alarm because of the ability to monitor/block outbound traffic and the ad/pop-up blocking it offers. It does take some...

Pros: V 3.1 Interface is a lot cleaner
Installs and auto-detects networks and VPN's nicely Cons: I had to uninstall mine...too many freezes and crashes.
I used 2.6 for ages with no problems...until despite the warnings of others here I (imagining some kind of papal dispensation that made me immune to these problems) I went ahead and paid for Ver 3.1 Pro.
Sighs..what a...

Pros: Good securtiy, easy of use. Cons: Becoming bloated software, requires more memory now.
version 2.6.362 interface was better.
I've been using Zone Alarm (freeware) for a long time and like it a lot. But recently the new 3.125 version became available and I upgraded to it. After upgrading I noticed it now uses over 8MB of memory when loaded. The older 2.6.362 version only used...

Pros: Blocks trojan horses, spyware, and hacker attacks Cons: Buggy, unstable, difficult to uninstall when problems arise
Last year, I wrote a glowing review of Zone Alarm. I couldn’t get over how well it worked and the fact that it was free. Unfortunately, a lot has changed in a year. Today, I removed it from my husband's computer and have no intentions of ever using it...

Pros: ZAP 2.6.xxx is the way to go Cons: Stay away from v3.0.xxx
I purchased ZAP 2.6 as a bundle after using the free version. I just wanted more protection. This firewall works like a champ. Oh, the problems it will cause hackers! Configuration and permissions can be confusing to the novice, but overall it is a...
