Pros: sounds like a great idea. Cons: nearly fried my computer.
I was very eager to try Zone Alarm because I just got a cable modem and it sounded like the perfect software for such a network connection. All the reviews I found were very favorable. Unfortunately, after installing Zone Alarm I couldn't boot up my...

Pros: FUN TO WATCH...AND TINKER WITH TOO! Cons: ...can be a little frustrating getting technical questions answered...
People can easily become complacent when considering they're personal computer's security. Things that sound unimportant to many users like: "network filtering" or whether or not this port or that port is opened or closed become more easily understood...

Pros: It doesn't use too many resources. Cons: none
This is one of the best firewalls I've tried.
I've used some other firewalls and tested them, but this one takes the prize!!!
It totally and completely makes you invisible to any server that wants to connect to you unless you want them...

Pros: Good securtiy, easy of use. Cons: Becoming bloated software, requires more memory now.
version 2.6.362 interface was better.
I've been using Zone Alarm (freeware) for a long time and like it a lot. But recently the new 3.125 version became available and I upgraded to it. After upgrading I noticed it now uses over 8MB of memory when loaded. The older 2.6.362 version only used...

Pros: Free Cons: Useless
Zone Alarm is a free firewall utility. You can upgrade to Zone Alarm pro for enhanced protection for a small fee. The only drawback to the program is that it doesn't work. I used it for a while, and other than getting in the way i didn't notice a...

Pros: Takes a totally proactive approach to security. Cons: Versions before 2.6.231 were unstable with Windows XP.
I cannot say enough about this program. Zone Labs' Zone Alarm takes a totally proactive approach to security that is unmatched by any other desktop firewall to date. Any applications accessing the Internet or network from your computer must have explicit...

Pros: Can teach beginners the basics of port security. Cons: If time is money, then it isn't free.
I have worked with several versions of the freeware and the full version of Zone Alarm, and have not found any of them to be completely stable - especially on NT platform operating systems. I have experienced too many crashes and unusual behavior to...

I downloaded the free version of zone alarm, and initially was impressed. But then, it began to do strange things. I play Descent 3 multiplayer on the internet, and Zonealarm interferes with the game. I sent them an email to ask them if the purchased...

Pros: powerful Cons: very annoying popup messages that can't be turned off
This product used to be the best product but some geniuses have improved it so that as you browse the web you will constantly be blessed with a pop-up message (that cannot be turned off) saying that privacy settings have affected this site. This message...

Keeps crashing my machine
by krakatoavin ,Jun 30 '04
Pros: Easy to use, easy to configure, friendly interface. Cons: Very unstable, keeps crashing our machines, not recommended
Oh man, where do I start? When I was on zone alarm 3 on my old WinNT and 2K machines, they were stable and reliable. When ZA started pushing the later versions, specially the 5.x releases (if you can call them that), we have had nothing but crashes and freezes on every single machine we have installed zone alarm on, including the latest XP boxes. I can't understand how such a product could have really been shipped as a "release". I've had to reinstall (from scratch) three systems because we've had to physically pull the plug after the system simply locked up. Once zone alarm was uninstalled, there were no more crashes.

Zone Alarm is Terrible
by dahlgren55 ,Sep 19 '07
Pros: Supposedly is a good program Cons: Takes up all your resources and locks up system very often.
I have had this software for a year now and HATE IT. It bogs down my system and locks it up for no apparent reason. They have no tech support unless you want to pay for it and frankly , I will just get rid of this horrid program once it expires.
Be warned !
