  • I thought that Platinum Meant Premium?

    May 30, 2001 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: the free service is free, platinum is inexpensive, better than Juno, etc
Cons: connect speeds using platinum vary from 28.8 to 46, frequent server errors, etc

Summary: A few months back, I wrote a review on Netzero internet service. Since writing that review, Netzero came out with their Platinum service- basically, their paid for internet service. They did this so that they can help fund their free service, and keep it ... read more

Pros: They are successfully creating their own demise.
    Cons: Corrupt and unethical.

Pros: They do not exist with this service what so ever.
Cons: Lied about speed. Rude customer service. Dropped signal. Most devices barely recognize the wireless.

Pros: "High Speed" sort of works with opening web pages.
Cons: Don't, for even a moment, believe this system will help you acquire large files quickly!

Summary: Periodically, while you're busy as heck this system will slip in a pop-up that claims you've been idle and therefore it's going to pull the plug on your Internet connection. If you actually see the pop-up and hit the "continue" button, sometimes it ... read more

    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Free for 10 hours, and still cheap for more time.
    Cons: Soooo much spam!

Summary: In spite of the low quality connections and massively intrusive advertisements, Netzero's Free Internet Access is still a good deal. I got my Netzero account about ten years ago, and although I've been tempted to let it go many times, something always ... read more

    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: NONE
Cons: Very deceptive practices, against all other providers general policy. THIEVES!

Summary: Be VERY careful dealing with NetZero! I simply called them one day asking for rate information and area availablity (and assume they got my phone # from caller ID as I didn't give it to them)and three weeks later I had a charge for $15.40 on my AT&T ... read more

    Pros: Cheap.
Cons: Not very effective for long-term users.

Summary: I just don't know how these guys do it. Sure they have ads plastered all over the TV and Internet, but really, that's about it. Now, I unwittingly signed up for the NetZero HiSpeed thinking that it would be faster than regular dial-up while being ... read more

    Cons: Slowwwwwwwww zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Summary: When I had some issues with my phone service and thought the issue was with my provider (PeoplePC) I decided to give NetZero a try. For a buck less a month than PeoplePC, I thought maybe I'd get at least as good of a connection as I had with PeoplePC. If ... read more

Pros: None, I only use it because I have to.

Cons: Customer service. I have no idea what the service is like. Never got that far.

Summary: We signed up for a free one-month trial of Net Zero service yesterday, and while I was sitting on hold through each department to get answers to a simple question, I wrote a mini-journal of the experience. Here's basically what it said, and what I sent ... read more

Pros: Inexpensive; high speed loads pictures faster at expense of quality
Cons: Unreliable connections; annoying advertisements; very memory-resident

    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Nary a one
    Cons: Too many to list.

Summary: As hard as it is to imagine, NetZeros Platinum pay internet pay service is not worth the $10 a month that it costs. If there is any truth to the old adage, you get what you pay for, then Netzero should cost nothing, because that is exactly what you get. ... read more
