The Bottom Line 1-good support bluchar cut,2- soft inner, mid and outer sole
3- look for leather 4- avoid complex outer-sole.
1st consider the importance of support, therefore I recommend a bluchar cut for the laces., 2nd. Leather is desirable since it breaths better than synthetic materials. 3rd. The Sole - inner -mid & outer. The inner ought to be soft with a nice arch support again preferably leather. The mid-sole should have a good shock-absorbing system e.g. Reebok's DMX system that first cushions the heal strike with a pocket of air then as you flex the foot the air passes to the toe area to cushion that before the foot strikes the ground. The outer sole ought to be a good wearing material with some moderate traction design but a design that cleans easily so dirt is not collected in the grooves and cravasses and tracked in the house. Sadly most shoe maker including Reebok have devised and excessively complex outer-sole that not only collects a lot of dirt but it is extremely difficult to remove the dirt from the sole once it gets in. These excessively complex designs might be warranted for Basketball or tennis shoes where traction, many abrupt starts and stops, is important. But in a walking shoe such designs are completely "out of place"! |
