My apartment is furnished in e-bay chic. I have found things that I could have NEVER found anywhere else! I have masks & artifacts directly from countries of origin (New Guinea, Australia, Africa) that I got for OMG prices. I found artwork that I just couldn't find anywhere else. I got small appliances and hobby items for a song, home decor for about half of what I would have paid at local retail stores. Just have to pay shipping and have enough patience to wait for your stuff. If you want it NOW, that can be an issue!
I've had only one bad experience with a Seller (I don't do selling ... just buy) and that was resolved *eventually* by E-bay and the person has been barred from E-bay.
Every seller I've used has been incredible, with my experiences ranging from "okay" to "I want to have your children."
The real downside (if you can call it that) is that if there is an item that you really really really want, you'd better be ready to pay for it because someone can and will outbid you. Believe me, I know. I've been on both sides of the winning/losing bidding wars!
Using E-bay is a learning experience. For me, it's also been a very positive one.
