The Bottom Line: I would recommend Alltel for excellant basic coverage.

I read several of the negative reviews. I've had service with Alltel for about 4 years now. I live in an area with a lot of interference and couldn't get a signal with another company, I have no problem getting a signal now. I haven't had to call customer service; however, on one occasion they did some work on the system and all my calls went directly to voice mail. I stopped by the sales store and the problem was resolved within 30 minutes (including time waiting for a sales person). I've had no problems changing plans or placing another person on my current plan. I had to have a phone replaced using the "insurance" and it was taken care of with a single phone call from the sales person to the insurance company. I recently started looking at other providers, thinking I could find a better deal. What I found was most providers charge about the same for comparable services, usually with less area coverage.
