The Bottom Line Great to start with, and if you know the games you like, but not so great for someone looking for a wide variety of options to play.

Captain Cook's is rather widely recommended on message boards and websites around the net. Although I don't give it the wild praise that some others do, I've enjoyed my play at the Captain's.
I'm going to focus on the negatives in this review, simply because they stand out more than the positives. The support team is great at the Captain's, with a responsive staff dealing with questions via e-mail. Their games are good, if a little plain, and I found them to be fair, as far as odds go. I'm no mathematician, but I never felt as though I was being cheated while I played.
There are a few things that the Captain could do to improve things, though. First, their website is highly informative, but kind of a pain to work with. What's with that scrolling text on the main page? Why do I need to sit and read that for ten or fifteen seconds while I wait for it to display? Bells and whistles like that are OK on some sites, but if the information is important, let me control how I read it.
Signing up and downloading the Captain Cook software is about the same as at any other casino, but the game selection is somewhat limited. These days, you can play at casinos that offer thirty or forty games, so settling for the Captain's dozen or so is a real compromise. Fortunately, the basics are covered: blackjack, slots, craps, baccarat, video poker. But if you're looking for some of the more obscure games, or a wide variety to keep you entertained, this casino is not for you.
Admittedly, these are smaller details in the grand scheme of things. The gameplay is good, support is responsive, and the odds seem to be fair. I like Captain Cook's, I just wish they'd fix up a few of the smaller problems I've found.
