I am writing this opinion from my brand new Gateway Performance 1000 deluxe. It arrived at my house yesterday in it's, what I like to call, "cow box".
The thing I find to be the best about the gateway is it's excellent customer service. I saw a commercial on TV, and decided to call in and check out prices, different systems, financing, ect. I thought this would be a long drawn out process of picking a system, checking credit, and what not. I called up Gateway, told them what I wanted, and before I new it I was ordering my new gateway. With their over the phone financing you can have a gateway computer at your door in less than a week.
The system itself is impressive as well. With a PIII 1000 Megahertz processor this system will burn though your biggest needs, without burning a hole in your pocket. The standard 128 megs of ram puts even more blazing speed into this machine as well. Throw in a CDRW, printer, 17" monitor, speakers, mouse, and a keyboard, and you will begin to see that this system is everything you will need now, and for quite some time. When I looked into a computer I did not want to have to upgrade two years from now. Gateway seems to be ahead of the game when compared to other similiar companies such as Dell, and Compaq. With all my praise to Gateway I do have to tell about the one thing I found lacking. The software package that the Gateway comes with is a bit week. I believe they could throw in office 2000, a few games, and a graphics suite. I recieve the works suite but I find this to be lacking in quite a few areas.
