The Bottom Line If you want the convenience of going into a friendly store and having them package and take care of shipping for you you can't beat PAK MAIL.
I just wanted to share my experience with "Mail box etc" and "Pak Mail". I don't know if both of these companies are available nationwide but both are here in the Chicago Area.
I sold a laptop on Ebay and I didn't have any packaging materials so I went first to Mail box etc. Located in chicago at the corner of Milwaukee and Nagle Ave. Before they even discuss price they want you to start filling out paperwork, I asked for a packaging and shipping quote first. The guy tells me it will cost 25.00 for them just to package the item and additional for shipping....End price he says around 41.00 for UPS ground insured. I thought he was nuts so I asked how much for the materials and I pack it. He didnt like this idea and kept trying to discourage me saying if the item is damaged I might not be covered if I do it myself, but in the end says Ill save 10.00. Being in a hurry I agree he hands me box and bubble rap and I start trying to assemble it in the store. The guy gets a little upset and tells me to do that in the corner. Then says you might also need some styrafoam peanuts. Asks if I need tape, they sell that too. Then tells me your only going to save a couple dollars by doing it yourself. I get aggravated hand him back his crap and leave. I go home punch up the UPS website and find another place called PAK MAIL.
Then I went to 5687 W. Touhy, Niles IL and was helped by Lynn. Lynn was very friendly and her price for doing the same packing using the same ups ground with insurance was $23.75. That is less than what MBE wanted just to put the laptop in the box.. PLUS I didnt feel like I was being pressured by a used car salesman. Lynn was very friendly and I will do all my shipping via this store.
I just wanted to share my nightmare shipping story turned dream with all of you.
