The Ericsson T28 was a nice phone from the day I took it out of the box. When I started using it, then there were some problems. Ericsson runs off a slightly different SIM card system which means that everything that you store on the phone, is stored on a tiny card which is removable. This is fine until you have to access the data, it is slow and often freezes like a computer when the phone is powering on. The power on and off is also a problem. The phone uses the END key as a power key and often doesnt turn off when it starts the off cycle and does the same thing when turning on. This phone takes an incredalbe amount of time to log into the Voice Stream Network, which is bad enough on its own. The active flip is a nice idea. You push a button on the side of the phone and it flips open. It is hard to push the button when you only have one hand or are in a hurry, the latch which secures the phone also sticks out into your face. The menu's are also hard to navigate. The phone book is difficult to access and unlike most phones, you cant start scrolling and get right to the phone book, you have to go through the menu. Also a lack of one touch dialing is a problem, as well as lacking significant storage space for email addresses and predictive text imput. The phone also lets off more radiation then any other phone on the market. There are some positives, the real time battery gauge accurately tells you how much talk and standby time you have left. The phone is small and carries well and the voice dialing is the best voice dialing I have seen on a phone.
But overall, the negatives outweigh the positives. Voice Stream has a lack of coverage, customer support, and descent dialing prefix's such as always having to dial one, they also lack Analog roaming capability. Overall, I decided to return this phone and go back to my Nokia 8860.
