Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's only saying that because she's my sister.

And BLASPHEMY! The Oleson twins, Cheryl? You truly are one sick puppy.

'How the West Was Fun!' by those adorable little Olsen twins. :)

This album has graced my CD player for my walks to work for the past week, mostly due to this particular review.

Thanks Marsha for the comment.

I'm glad you feel so compelled to get these discs. It is really worth the full price.

Thanks for the comment. Shockingly enough (or not), I still rank 'em above all those you mentioned (each of which have a slot or two or four in my music collection)...

Anyway, thanks for the comment. Much, much, much appreciated.

Great review, as usual... (Reply to this comment)

...I only wouldn't agree about Led Zep being the quintessential 70's band so far. The 70's had many great bands, Stones Floyd Sabbath and Purple being only a few of them. Anyway, I'll buy this 3-CD magnum opus!

Bye,
Carlos

I just read (Reply to this comment)

the review of this CD in Rolling Stone, and they lauded it as much as you did.

I agree with everything you said - especially about how much of a BAND this was, and that there will never be a band of musicians like this ever again. Every single man was a master of his instrument. There will never be a better rock drummer than John Bonham. There will never be a better rock guitarist than Jimmy Page. There will never be an equal to John Paul Jones on bass, and no singer will ever reach the same heights as Robert Plant.

I LOVED this review so much, and I intend on getting this CD in the very near future.

This is the first I'd heard of your cancer. I hope you are well now, and I'm glad Led Zeppelin was there to rock you through some of the hell you must have experienced.

Best wishes always,
Marsha

Maybe I won't pass on it after all (Reply to this comment)

Led Zeppelin is the band that took me from Top 40 radio (KIIS-FM in Los Angeles) as a Jr. Higher in the early '80s to discovering real rock 'n' roll. I was originally going to pass on this as "just another dip into the vaults for some live stuff", but this sounds like it's too good to pass up. Thanks!

for the DVD to arrive right now :-^

It helps a lot that Robert Plant is such a hottie. At least, I think so. I really got into Led Zeppelin's music through his solo work which I've enjoyed for the most part. They are an amazing band and I wish I'd been able to see their original lineup live.

Nicely done!

..both the review and the album. You're absolutely right - They remain a peerless and incomparably great rock band. No one did it better. If you can get it, I'd also advise anyone to check out the "BBC Sessions" 2-CD set, recorded during various radio and tv performances during the seventies - It's awesome stuff.

I have been on vacation in Hawaii the last two weeks and just heard about this CD today at work and now I read your fabulous review. I love Led Zeppelin, I never got to seem them but I did catch Jimmy Page and Robert Plant on tour a couple of years ago, it was great! I have all of the Led Zeppelin CDs, I guess I will have to get this one also.

Great review as always,

Ron

..... Dancing Days is one of my favorites. It was interesting to me that there is a remake of it by the Stone Temple Pilots. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for letting me know!

I Want The Double DVD (Reply to this comment)
by kcfoxy
If it contains all this music and more, I've got to have it! So exciting that your brother-in-law was involved in all this, and you've done an admirable job here both conveying your ~relatively~ new-found love for one of the seminal hard rock and blues giants, and sharing excitement over this marvelous release!

...subliminal message...

buy. cd. buy. cd.

Thanks for the comment. It really is wonderful. My husband who only usually likes AC/DC, Marilyn Manson, and White/Rob Zombie also loved it. In fact, he had it for the first few days I owned it and wouldn't give it back.

Thanks again...buy. cd. buy. cd.

Three Trusted reviews in, i'm starting to think i should give in and buy this triple (gack!) CD. Led Zeppelin were never my favorite band - lyrics getting severely in the way - but as a gifted, adventurous, and important band, they had few peers. Righteous review, Shelly.

Yup. I mentioned it once. My sister's boyfriend worked on the DVD actually. That's how she was at the London premiere of both :)

Really. Great stuff.

My drumming is/ was heavily influenced by Bonham.
Wouldn't it be great to see Jason Bonham take over on drums for a tour !! ??
Isn't this also on DVD ??
