While my iMac is now functioning reasonably well, my experience with this supposedly take-it-out-of-the-box-and-go computer and the "support" staff at Apple cause me to not recommend this. Just like a 4-star restaurant: if the food is excellent but the service sorely lacking, who would want to go back or recommend it to a friend? For example, within 15 minutes of trying to start to use it, my entire mail program became corrupted. I spent several days going back and forth (ad nauseum) with Apple "support" staff. While the problems were all eventually resolved (from a technical perspective), subsequent efforts to get Apple to resolve my many complaints have been fruitless.
Another important warning to those contemplating an Apple purchase: Apple alleges that it does not release any information to its own personnel about soon-to--be-released products. You could wind up buying something, only to have a new and improved version be released days later. Apple sales personnel will claim that they had no idea and are kept in the dark to the same extent as the public. If that is true, it is terrible in terms of building long-term customer relationships, and seems terribly unwise. And if it's not true, Apple has been dishonest with me.
The iMac is now doing OK as a computer used by me at home (for both business and personal purposes). But considering that it cost quite a bit more than a PC, I certainly expected to get something extra in exchange.
