...can be found from time to time at Trader Joe's. I had Budvar in Germany under the Budweiser label (as well as Urquell), and it still brings back fond memories. [sigh]

This is good stuff. Czech beer is very good. I tried it in Prague last summer.

Thank you for a thorough and well-written review, something which is hard to find in the gourmet drinks category on epinions. Cheers!

A great review!

I had the pleasure of sampling all the beers mentioned during my trip to Prague - and I can not agree more on the tip that you should go away from the center to find a pub or a place to eat.

I found that a good way to get the best out of the trip was to look for a local restaurant away from the center, a place where they didn't even have menus in English. That way you got the REAL Czech food, and could easily make new acquaintances under the pretense of asking for help in interpreting the menu... :-). Also, as you say, the prices are quite different when you get away from the tourist traps.

Cheers,
Jarno
