Speedy CD Writing
Written: Feb 22 '01
Pros:BURNproof, fast and compatible with all types of CDR
Cons:I honestly can't think of any
The Bottom Line: The best writer I have used: quick and no failed writes due to the BURNproof technology.
I recently put together a computer with a Duron 700, 128MB RAM and various other bits and pieces, not least the Plextor BURNproof. I have owned a CDR before but this one was superb.
Usually, with my old writer I had to close everything down in the background to ensure no buffer under-runs. With this writer, I can be on the internet, play a game and do almost anything because of the BURNproof technology which actually works. I have tried doing almost everything possible at once to test it, and so far it has held up its own and not failed me.
It now takes me just 6 minutes to burn an 80 minute CD, which is a major improvement over my old one (about 15 minutes). I use the writer as a normal CD drive (I'm waiting to buy a DVD drive) and it works as well as a normal CD drive. Writing and formatting a Re-Writable is somewhat slower, but that's to be expected with any drive, but even so it is fairly fast.
I have also used many different types of CDR's and I have not have a single problem (Intenso CD's work particularly well).
