I have been wanting to see my mother in law in Anchorage, ever since she moved there last August. I felt that I would never get the opportunity though because of the high airline fares... Well, that's no problem if you are flexible in travel dates and you use Travelocity.
This week I was tinkering with the Yahoo travel website, looking for a cheap fare to go somewhere.....Anywhere. but the cold of New England. I looked at tickets for travel to sunny California, but alas as usual the fares were way out of my reach. I looked out of curiosity at Seattle, another deal I snagged from Travelocity once, but my heart wasn't in to traveling there again being that I am already going there soon enough...Then in the back of my mind came this thought. Maybe there would be a reasonable fare to Anchorage.
To my surprise there are five airlines that are running specials in the months of March, April, May and June. The dates are a bit tricky to find your target. But if you try sometimes you just might find ( Like I did ) you get what you need... ( As they say ) Travelocity told me of an airport in Newburgh New York I had never heard of. They also found me tickets for with tax $405.00 round trip. They also managed to have an airline that I already had a voucher for making the flight $305.80 for me. A grand total of $611.60 for my husband and I to fly round trip from Connecticut to Anchorage.
The best feature of Travelocity is their ability to tell you of the airports that pop out of nowhere. I would have never thought of trying this Airport, and because they suggested their great promotion I saved near two hundred dollars a ticket. It also is not a unknown airline. Although I really dislike this airline due to past lousy service. Via having the vouchers...For $311.80 round trip to Anchorage, Delta will due. Besides if they once again give bad service, I'll do what I did last time.....The squeaky wheel get's a greasing as they say.
By the way, my round trip ticket includes only one stop. Travelocity also gets a A plus for finding inexpensive good flights!!!
