Thanks for this review.
It's hard to find any information on the companies that manufacturer memory(outside the mfg. themselves). I learned a few new things reading your review too! I did some research for what memory company I wanted to go with and settled with PNY because of availability. I wasn't disappointed.
The 1G PC2700 SODIMM I bought was easy to install, reasonably priced and recognized with no problems by my Apple iBook. The perfomance boast was appreciablle especially with page loading.
I agree with your assessment with the top brands. Cosair was be my 1st choice as well, with Kingston and Crucial next. I saw Kingston offers what they call value memory, but I opted against that because it wasn't system tested, but for 'white boxes.' I also refrained from so called 'bargain' memory to avoid compatibility issues. PNY was the 'happy medium.'
I would recommend a memory upgrade and PNY memory to anyone who desires improved system performance. It really does work. Take it from a skeptic like me. And, your system will be more valuable if you decide to sell.
Thanks again for the review.

Yeah, I agree that the memory really does play second fiddle to the motherboard, but I included the specs in case someone was really interested. Hopefully they'll help someone.

Excellent! But in my experience, it's usually the mobo/chipset/CPU that determines the memory performance as well. The memory itself would effect the results only if their timing specs are less than stellar.

Excellent! :) BTW, it is usually the motherboard/chipset/CPU that determines the performance of memory, in my experience. Unless the memory's timing is less than stellar.
