Do NOT buy this modem!

Pros: It connects to the Internet.
Cons: It doesn't connect at a high speed and drops the connection frequently.
The Bottom Line: I bought this modem because it was cheap... and boy was it. Consider even telling your friends not to buy this modem - they will thank you.

I bought this modem initially because I didn't want a top-end modem and it was at a reasonable price with a $10 rebate. They should have made it a $40 rebate. This modem isn't worth buying.
I typically connect once in ever three to five attempts and when I do, it ranges from 19.2kbps to 33.6 kbps. Typically, it's under 24. This modem also drops the connection a lot... especially if I'm trying to load two web pages at one time.
Often, it will tell me that it could not connect to a well-known site (like www.google.com) and when I refresh the page, it will try again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.
I know that the fault is not my ISP's (which is actually the university I attend). I have e-mailed the IS department and they tell me that virtually no one else has complained about the service. They encouraged me to check the reviews on my modem. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a positive review yet - except from people trying to sell them or people just getting them and not really testing them out.
In some reviews, I found out that the driver that Windows (I'm using XP Pro) automatically installs is much better than the one that USR provides on the CD with the modem. It is true as it connects almost every time and is a little faster (between 22 - 36 kpbs), but it still has the other problems.
I regret that I'll have to spend more money for another modem. If I pooled the initial resources and my future expense, I could have got a top-end modem. I also can't, with any integrity, sell this piece of junk to anyone else either. I don't want them to go through what I am now.
So, tell yourself and your friends not to buy this. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache.
