benho : I'm sure that would be a very interesting read. There are so many different styles of "rule" in the open source world, I could see how that would provide a good amount of information for you.

pedantic : Well, I could get all technical here... alright, I will... UNIX is a trademark which is owned by a company (it used to be SCO, but I'm not sure who owns it anymore), so Linux is not UNIX, but it is damn close... Gnu is not linux itself, (nor is it unix), but rather a collection of tools that are used with Linux (and other operating systems)...

"To summarize... installing Debian is evil" (Reply to this comment)

muhahahhahahhaha

I never bothered to get into unix administration. for my one linux box, I used red hat, it installed itself I was happy. Enough said. But I can see why Debian might be preferred.

i find your analysis of the politics of the
Debian system especially intriguing though. I did my Master's thesis, partly on the politics behind various open source projects, from Torvalds autocracy to Apache's technocratic cabal. Interesting stuff..
