My daughters recently pre-ordered two copies of "Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix" from Amazon.com. Price wise it was about the same as in the regular stores (i.e. Borders) or Barnes&Noble) as delivery charge was compensated by the lack of sales tax. (Still, I had a couple of gift certificates that made the final price much more manageable). Ordering was fast and easy (it's not my first time after all) and all in all took less then a minute. We received prompt confirmation of the order and were promised a delivery on the day the book will be available for sale. Truth to tell, I had my doubts - we all know how it can be with shipments by mail. To make it even more problematic, the release day was Saturday. There were two books ordered independently, and both of them were delivered to our door on Saturday morning at 10 am. Very pleasant surprise. Excellent service. Thanks.
P.S. All my other transactions with Amazon were also fine. The only complain I have is that they would not allow you to combine orders that were payed for (even in part) by gift certificates. But that's a very minor point.
