Pros: Low price, huge storage, recording input
Cons: Haven't found one yet
The Bottom Line: If you need to take the sounds of the world and turn them into MP3s, get this thing. It's a great MP3 player and external hard drive as well.

I use it on my Mac.
I use it on my Wintel box.
I record my vinyl LPs to MP3 files.
I record radio programs to MP3 files.
I can plug in a microphone and capture anything to MP3 files.
I use it as a voice recorder with the built in mic.
It holds all of my MP3s.
I can use it as an external hard drive to transfer documents between home and work or friend's houses.
Wow.
I just got this thing, so I can't speak to its long term usefulness, but all my friends who got them when they first came out still rave about theirs, so I'm not worried. I'm loving this thing. I waited until a unit came along with a decent sized hard drive AND ability to record to MP3 files. I'm glad that it came along, and at this price too. If you don't need to record, there are lots of other options out there for you. If you do need to record, get one of these. The fact that I can use it as an external hard drive too is just gravy on the whole deal.
I rated the battery life as "Good" only because when I connect the unit to my computer at home I plug it in...I've never tried to run the batteries out, so I can't speak to that feature
