I purchased this drive because my computer (an HP model 6738) has only one 5 1/4" drive bay. So, in order to have both CD-RW and DVD drives on my machine, I had to go with a combo drive.

I have been using the SM-348B for about six months now, and I have to say that I couldn't be happier. I have burned many CD's, and I haven't yet produced a single coaster. The drive is fast and quiet; and, coming from using an external USB 1.1 CD-RW, the increase in recording and formatting speeds is almost 10-fold. incredible.

The SM-348B is a great drive at a great price. I highly recommend it.
