This is a quick and easy way to rent a quality automobile. No lines no hassle. You can see what you are getting and are provided with all of the information. Avis is a must if you will be putting a lot of miles on a car. They provide unlimited mileage and I was able to rent a LeSabre for a week, drive 2200 miles and pay only $220. This was a much better deal than other places. The next closest in price for unlimited mileage was Hertz. The car was high quality and clean. Non-smoking cars are available and a plus for non-smokers.
Once I got on the site, it took less than 15 min. to make this reservation and print my information. At the pick-up counter (Peoria, IL airport) it took less than 5 min. to get this car and the same amount of time to return it. This was the easiest time I have ever had renting or picking up a vehicle.
The above was evidently not enough review!
After trying all of the other website including Orbitz and Expedia, as well as many other car rental sites, I went to the Avis site and the prices were at least the same if not lower and there was not the problem of waiting for a computer to pull up companies that you don't want or need. Avis was the least expensive company available for UNLIMITED MILEAGE which is a great value if you, like me, drive many miles when you have a car. Otherwise you can go to Budget or Dollar and get a car for about $15-$20 less but be prepared to dish out 25 cents for each mile you go over the limit. That is only 4 miles traveled for every dollar.
Here is another money saving tip: If you plan on using the car 3 or more days, a weeks rental is generally cheaper. Also, have the car back in time or you will be charged another day. For example, pick it up at 5pm Wednesday return it by 5 pm Wednesday but not before 5 pm Monday. Turn it in too early and you will be charged the daily (more expensive) rate. Turn it in too late and you will be charged another day. They will tell you this at the counter!
Fill it up with gas before you return it. They can charge $4.99/gallon if you say you will fill it up and do not! They will tell you this at the counter!
If you have never used a website here are instructions:
1-Go to the website avis.com.
2-Enter the area you want to pick a car up from and the date you want to pick it up.
3-A screen will come up with the best value options and other options.
4-Click on the type of vehicle you are interested and it tells price, seating, and cargo space.
5-Pick the car you want.
6-You will NOT need to enter any credit card information. Just tell them what type of credit card you have and verify that you are over 25 and a safe driver. Questions will come up on the screen.
7-Print your information, just in case. I have never needed it!
TO SIMPLIFY-JUST FOLLOW THE PROMPTS. It is easy enough for a 6 year old to navigate. I have one; I know!
Also, all drivers must be there when the car is picked up to give lisc. numbers. Everyone driving must be at least 25. Co-workers and spouses are allowed to drive without checking in at the counter and must also be 25.
Check with your insurance company, you are probably covered and will not need their insurance!
