Very useful information (Reply to this comment)

I'm quite sure that most people don't know what to put down as a value for their donated items. This is a good guideline. I still have a tendency to value some things lower since I'm not always sure they will be able to sell them.

I didn't claim my clothing donations this year because I didn't keep the receipt and I didn't know how much to claim.
I will certainly remember your article for next year's taxes!
Happy returns! 8-) katie

I can't find it on Epinions...I've rerated to VH.
(You might want to check with Goodwill to see if you need permission to repost their list, however. I suspect they'd OK it, anyway.)

If this information has been listed before, I apologize. I scanned through many reviews last night to see if anyone had shared this information before.
I agree the prices seem a bit high, however, as you are most likely aware, having solid documentation and justification for the valuation of contributed items will hold you in good stead with the IRS.

I've seen that list before... (Reply to this comment)

(here on Epinions.com, I believe, making this a duplicate review), and it seems high, even for the San Gabriel Valley in the Los Angeles, California, area. The correct answer would be what that Goodwill store sells those items for, rather than the prices in that list, which actually comes from Goodwill corporate offices.

Thanks for the tip! I never know how to price these items. I am printing out the list for future reference.
Nice job!
