Your comment made me realize that I never updated my review to mention that someone driving the previous generation RX 300 backed up into my car in a CostCo parking lot. She couldn't see me apparently.

I would only add that the rear view problem should not be underestimated. A good friend had the earlier RX300 model and had several small incidents leading her to trade it in on a RAV4. She liked that small SUV but it was wrecked the other day. She has ordered up a new Prius. So she is evidently sold on Toyota quality.
Rear visability on any vehicle cannot be over emphasized. If you can't see out of it, all the other good points will be quickly overshadowed sooner rather than later.

An unattractive SUV just doesn't compute in my head. Might as well get a minivan.

If you aren't stuck on styling, test drive a Toyota Highlander. excellent SUV crossover with generic SUV look.
