There are many different types of people that go out looking to buy a shredder. You have your little old ladies that just need something small because they want to shred every piece of junk mail they get, and you have your businesses that need shredders to get rid of documents that are no longer needed and are to risky to just throw away.

This shredder is certainly not for that little old lady. This is the daddy of all shredders. Let's start with the sheet capacity. You can shred up to 18 sheets at one time using this machine. I have only seen one other shredder that will allow you to do more than that.

This may not be the best machine to use if you are looking for security. It is not a cross cut shredder. It cuts in strips that are 1/4 inch wide. It has a 15 inch throat size. That's the length of the opening for the paper. It's good to have a lot of space to put the paper because sometimes you don't have time to get it right where it needs to be. This way you can just put the paper anywhere in there and let it go.

The motor on this shredders isn't as strong as some of the other ones that are out now, but it is strong enough to shred the 18 pages that it says it will. Having a strong motor is important because that helps prevent jams. This shredder has an auto on/off. This means that as soon as you put paper in the shredder than the machine will turn on and shred the paper. It also has an auto jam shut off. If the machine should get a jam for whatever reason then the machine shuts off and lets you fix the jam before doing anything else.

With this machine you can shred things that may go along with your paper. By that I mean you can safely put staples and paper clips in there with out having to worry about it getting jammed. A lot of documents that businesses shred have staples and things in them anyway and this just makes it easier for them to shred that kind of stuff.

This shredder come with a one year parts and labor and five year cutter warranty. Some places you shop will offer an extended warranty. I suggest getting it because chances are if you buy a shredder like this one you are going to want to get more than five years out of it.
