Ohmigod I am so obsessed with Ebay. I have been an active user for over a year now and have bought a TON of stuff! Most recently, Crest Whitestrips (see my review), new hubcaps for my car, a ConAir Professional Fabric Steamer (review coming soon), and a host of clothing and accessories. I am an Ebay addict. Best of all, it's so easy to use.
Setting up an Ebay account is simple, and free, contrary to popular belief. If you register as a seller, a credit card is required, but not charged. They do this for security purposes because you are charged a small fee when you list something. Usually about a dollar, depending on the price of the item and how many bells and whistles you ad to your listing. However, Ebay will not charge your credit card without giving you ample time to pay by another means (ie, a different card, debit card, etc.). They'll usually email you 3 weeks before charging your card for fees.
The selling process is EASY! I've sold all of my maternity clothes, most of my regular clothes (things don't fit as well after having a baby...), dishes, baby stuff, various equipment, etc. I can't begin to list it all! You simply log onto Ebay and click on the sell link. It guides you all the way through the process and even tells you how much you get charged and for what. No surprises! You can upload your pictures from files in your computer or on the web (but uploading them from the web takes a little more time and skill). It takes less than 5 minutes to list something! Auctions last for typically 7 days, or (if you've accumulated enough feedback points) you can choose the "Buy It Now" option and someone can just buy it on the spot. I'll talk about feedback points in a little bit. It's so easy to sell!
It's even easier to buy. Found something you like? Then just bid on it! Ebay askes you for your password (to prevent people from just bidding all willy nilly) and confirms your bid before it is offically placed. Searching for items is easy, too. You can look things up by catagory or just type in what your looking for in the "Search" bar at the top of the page. They have EVERYTHING on Ebay. Seriously. You want it, can't find it anywhere else? Ebay's got it. We just found an amazing velvet Elvis (yes, velvet Elvis) painting. For cheap, too! That's what I love about Ebay, endless bargins.
For everything you buy or sell, you have a chance to give feedback to the person you did business with. This is great because it prevents people from selling crap or making bogus bids. If you do something that you're buyer (or seller) thinks is wrong during the transaction, they will leave you negative feedback. Likewise for if you do something great, they'll leave positive feedback. Ebay is based on feedback and giving it is much encouraged. You are given the option to leave feedback for someone ONLY if you participated in a transaction with them. You can't just pick a random person and rate them. None of that willy nilly crap. :)
Overall, I think Ebay is a great site. It's easy to use and, best of all, you can really trust who you're dealing with because of the well-thought feedback system. I give it an A+++++!!!!
