"a person I work with doesn't speak to highly of DDR"
Just out of curiousity, what was it he had to say? Considering that DDR is simply RAM that operates at double the effective speed, I wouldn't think there's much that can be said of it, good or bad.
"You can play with the options here, selection whether you want all out anti-aliasing, devote only one of the chips to it, or what have you"
Just FYI, the "Single Chip Only" mode isn't devoting one chip to anti-aliasing, but disabling one of the V5's two graphics chips completely. Since doing so will halve the performance of the V5, the only reason to do it is if you're facing compatibility problems with certain games. Otherwise you'll want to make sure you don't enable that setting by mistake.
