Pros:The graphics interface is really excellent! It cannot be crashed.
Cons:Waiting for Classic mode to boot up just to use an OS 9 program.
The Bottom Line: If you're so smart in computers, start here to be on your way to LEARN IT ALL.

I give a great bow to Apple, since they are taking a deep and dark step into this new operating system. Since it's the first of its kind, who knows of the possibilities?

First off, I've ran into a lot of people who complain about the Apple menu and Finder missing. This is a beta, and a lot of stuff didn't make it in time. Of course, for those who caught Steve Jobs' Mac World Expo San Francisco in January knows that they are being put back in.

One great thing is that A COMPUTER MANUFACTURER released a beta version of their next operating system. Has anyone does this before? No. Did Apple ask for feedback? Yes! They are trying to tune in more with the consumers. For folks who have Airport, it missed being included in the beta version by two weeks.

Although albeit, the new system isn't that hard to learn. The graphical interface may throw one off and make them think that it's just OS 9 revamped with smooth graphics....that's where the confusion comes in. The complexity of the OS itself is definitely a new one. A lot of people do not know the words "Cocoa," "Carbon," or "Aqua" mean, but will be a shy bit introduced to the way programs work. It has been officially noted that the Apple menu will come back. One of the main things I hope that makes the final version is the extensions manager. This is where problems occur most often and solved. Everyone will have to learn new ways of how to troubleshoot the problems they encounter within this system. Because let's fact it, no matter what kind of computer or operating system you have, you will run into problems. There is not one machine in this world, be it computer or whatever, that is 100% stable.

OS X has proven far more stable then anything I've come across. I must say I am a proud user of PC's and Mac's, and the anti-crash system has worked everytime. I often run into bugs without trying no matter if the product is finished or what. In Mac OS 9, whenever something would unexpectedly quit, you're whole computer was hosed most of the time. The new force quit in OS X is a lot more like the Ctrl-Alt-Delete of windows. It brings up a window this time, and you can select what needs to be terminated. But the good thing is, that Mac OS X stays intact. The reason for this is because it runs in 3 different environment (Cocoa, Carbon, and Aqua) and can recover whatever was shot after the force quit has been done.

I really love the idea of them 'marrying' Mac and Unix together. No matter how much money Windows makes, most system out that are used to build software or hardware are BASED IN UNIX.

This brings up a rant I just have to get off my chance. I don't understand why so many people hate Macs or Windows machines. Neither of them are the better. I do admire the quality or self preferences, but c'mon! Unix is the most used system out there right now. Now, I must be putting 'foot in mouth' because I know nothing of Unix or Linux systems. I just know they are far more complex and dominate in the advance of our evolution as well as computers' evolution. But that's enough for that thought.

All I know is that this is a start of a new Apple. They are trying real hard to advance the progressions of computers. I mean, look who made the floppy disk popular, and look who follows. Now Apple is leaving the floppy behind, and soon others will follow. PC's are now being shipped with CD-RW drives bundled, and Apple has followed. If all computer systems collided, it's child would be the most beautiful thing man has ever created with his hands, and Apple is starting the process.
