HP Pavilion Problems (Reply to this comment)
by ddpard
I purchased an HP Pavilion PC and was not able to connect it to the Internet. I made sure the ISP connection was active and correct (a 1998 iMAC and new Dell laptop were able to connect using the same cable and ISP). I also disabled the NIC and used two other NIC cards in succession. Nothing worked. I did two system recovery operations, one non-destruction the other full-destructive, and neither worked. I returned the PC to the retailer for a refund. The HP customer support was totally inferior and incompetent.

Thanks for your comment. This computer is super fast - I don't miss the pentium at all. My 4 year old clunker had a pentium and it crashed pretty frequently although I doubt that is a fair comparison since the technology was different then.
I am glad to know yours is still working fine.

What a mammoth harddrive on this computer. I'm wondering if you notice any difference in the Athlon to a Pentium IV. That's the only thing that would keep me from purchasing this one for my husband.
Frustrating about the Ads. I remember when I got mine and had to settle them down. I laughed about the "annoying little man." I had forgotten about him and have him tucked in a folder somewhere where he can't bug me. ha ha
Just want to assure you. I've had mine for over a year and I still love it dearly. I've had not even the tiniest bit of trouble with it.
Great review and great taste in computers.

Thanks for your comment. I don't know why I find it so annoying that there is no calculator. I mean, it couldn't cost a lot to put one on. I am forever losing my handheld one and it is convenient to have a spare on the computer. I guess they just didn't want to give it up on this machine.

Its funny that I waited so long to replace my old computer. This one is soooo much faster and there are no crashes. It really takes 1/10th the time to get stuff done on this one. Best Buy has a package deal this week to get this computer with a monitor, speakers and printer if you need those things too and the price is even better.
