Although I am somewhat of a gadget-nut when it comes to my kitchen, the problem in our house is storage. We have no basement and very few closets to contain any "useless clutter" that might accumulate. This means I have to really pick and choose which small appliances I choose to purchase.
Most of my recent small appliance purchases have been made at Cooking.com. For me, the convenience of being able to locate the exact appliance I have decided to purchase outweighs any difference in potential cost from my local discount department stores. I can always count on finding the exact brand and model number I have decided on at Cooking.com.
The site is very easy to navigate. Products are sorted into categories: Bakeware, Barware, Cookbooks, Cook's Tools, Cookware, Cutlery, Furnishings, Gift Baskets & Sets, Gift Certificates, Home Keeping, Outdoor Living, Small Appliances, Specialty Foods, Storage & Organization, Tableware, Clearance, and Corporate Gifts. There are also some great links for Recipes and Buying Guides, as well as a Wedding Registry should someone decide to make out-of-town buying that much more easy! In the center of the main page is whatever is currently being featured depending on the season, along with any current featured specials.
I can also use an excellent search engine to search for a specific brand, model or product description. Cooking.com carries major brand-name appliances and cookware, such as All-Clad, Cuisinart and many more.
I have shopped at Cooking.com many times and have always found just what I needed without any problems. For out-of-town friends it is easy to find just what they are looking for and have it sent to them. All of my items came packaged with extreme care and I have never received anything broken, nor had any complaints of broken items from gifts I've sent. Cooking.com does back up all of their products with a 100% guarantee - simply contact them either by phone or email if anything about your order is unsatisfactory, and they promise to make it better.
The shipping charges are very reasonable at Cooking.com. I have always used their Super Saver Shipping option, which promises the product will arrive in 5-10 days. For this option, shipping charges range from $7.95 to $9.95, with orders over $99 eligible for free Super Saver Shipping. For faster shipping, the charges increase proportionally.
One of my recent orders consisted of a George Foreman Jr. Rotisserie, which I decided upon after reading a review here at epinions. It was so easy to find exactly what I asked for, and the item arrived within a week of when I ordered it, with no shipping charges! I looked around and this particular model wasn't in any of my local discount department stores or warehouse clubs, so Cooking.com saved me from unsuccessfully visiting these stores in search of it!
I've also replaced the bakeware and cookware I received for my wedding shower 10 years ago through Cooking.com. Their products were top quality and I received everything in a timely manner. The product descriptions gave me plenty of information with which to narrow down my choices on many items.
I often find the site fun to just poke around in. There are so many kitchen gadgets that I never could have imagined existed that I have fun learning about new things there. Of course, I want them all, but I can add the ones I'm really interested in to my Wish List and then add them to an order later on to boost up the order total so I don't pay the shipping charges.
I recommend this site to anyone who knows exactly what they want, and doesn't want to do the legwork of visiting many stores to find it. Rebates are available through both Ebates and Mypoints, dropping the net cost even more.
