The Bottom Line Your e-mail address is part of your on-line personality. Each of these three offers a chance to say something about yourself ... especially another.com
Of the seventeen email addresses I have, fourteen of them are through one company. Which company, you ask? another.com The 'free' e-mail accounts that I am currently using are as follows: 1. hugkiss.com - great little site, but they are currently featuring an annoying array of pop-up messages with your daily mail. They have a request out for donations and promise that the pop-up ads will be the first to go. This is the address that I give out most often, I just can't resist the cuteness ... bubbly1@hugkiss.com ... okay, everyone, all together now ... "awwwwwwww" 2. mail.com - I have a couple of accounts with mail.com. Some of the features are: - the ability to forward you mail (which I do ... to #3) - personalizing the @whatever to something that closely resembles who you are. I used to be a Commercial Insurance underwriter (having recently switched to the broker side), so I have a my_name@underwriters.com. I direct my trade ezines to this account. It gives a professional sounding touch to my at home business dealings. This would be a great site for people looking for a free e-mail service for a small (or self-employed) business. 3. another.com - this has got to be the MOST customizable e-mail site out there. There are literally thousands of @whatever addresses to choose from. I have fourteen distinct email address through this website, all arriving in one email inbox. So, depending on my mood, I can give any number of addresses and not have the pain of checking each account. The only drawback to this site (if you consider it a drawback) is the .co.uk ending. You are allowed to have up to 20 addresses, and I can tell you, I had hours of fun searching the database for available addresses. Even if you don't decide to use the service, you'll have a ball looking. I also use hotmail.com, but only as my passport into MSN Instant Messenger. I check (and delete) the mail once every couple of weeks to keep the account active, and considering the fact that I don't hand that address out at all, it sure seems to fill up quickly. I guess it's time for me to set my spam filters, eh? Update: March 15, 2001 I just spent some time browsing the another.com database of domain names and found a few that might be good for your epinions.com e-mail address: your_name@productnews.co.uk your_name@agreetodisagree.co.uk your_name@aboveboard.co.uk your_name@bestkeptsecret.co.uk The list goes on ... and on ... I also forgot to mention that "another.com allows everyone 5 megabytes of email and 5 megabytes of attachments. That's 60% more space than Yahoo and 500% more space than Hotmail." |
